Why did dad send me here? He knew that Asuro was a corrupt company with a tendency for false advertising. Relaxing, exotic military colony my-ass. Its more like planet of the damned. Theres not too much I can do about it now, though. Here I am on Pluto.

I think its 2155, but after working in the mines for years Ive pretty much stopped keeping track. All the miners work for at least 14 hours day, sweating in our enviro-suits and tediously working in the drillers, constantly searching for an iota of any sort of valuable metal. We have only 15 minutes to eat a meager, company-provided meal of trash. Everyday, the only color I see is blue. The entire planet gives off an iridescent indigo glow. I dont even know if I can still see any other colors.

To make things worse, a plague has been spreading through the mines, killing thousands of miners. No one knows the cause or the cure for the plague, but when people start to suddenly collapse and spasm around the mines, everyone becomes cautious. Cautious of something they cannot even identify. Asuro has hired mercenary guards to control the miners and keep us on task. They all treat us like shit. Lately, there have been wanted posters up all over the mines.

Someone going by the name Sl has started a revolution among the miners, calling themselves the Blue Rebellion. Sl claims that Short, CEO of Asuro, is responsible for the plague as some sort of conspiracy. I dont know about that, but the idea of a revolution seems pretty visionary. The miners outnumber the guards a thousand to one; we have a pretty good chance of overpowering them, even without any firepower. Well, until anything really happens, Im still stuck here in these hellish mines, waiting for the day I am become free from this life. A life of slavery.

Kid! You there! Hey kid! I came out of my daydream to hear a fellow miner calling me.

Hey kid, shifts over; time to get some well-needed sleep. I blankly glared at him, I have a name, you know. He raised an eyebrow at me and said, Fine, kid. Whats your name? I noticed that he said everything with a strange sound of ease for a forced miner.

OG. My name is OG, I replied. OG? Like the letters, eh? Well, good meeting you OG. Im Jim, the miner said.

We began walking towards the barracks together, carrying on what could be called a conversation. Basically, he talked, and I pretended to listen, catching a few phrases here and there. I thought to myself, do I really look that much like a kid? I mean, Im eighteen now. Wow.

Eighteen. Ive been on this godforsaken planet for three years. The three longest years of my life. That means it is 2155; I guess I have a pretty good sense of time. Three years ago my father sent me here. He told me that, according to the advertisements, Asuro was offering jobs on Pluto to anyone who would volunteer.

They said we would get paid, therefore, dad, being cheap by nature, decided that hed rather never see me for the rest of his life than have to pay for my needs. The bastard. I hate him and I always will hate him. Ow! I yelped. The speaker inside my helmet blasted into my ear.

ATTENTION! OG ORELIUS! YOUR ROOMMATE HAS DIED FROM THE PLAGUE VIRUS! JAMES KARLSON WILL BE YOUR NEW ONE! Whats the matter kid?

Jim said with a concerned look on his face. My damn suit is screaming at me. Argh. By the way, Jim, your last name wouldnt happen to be Karlson, would it? Jim looked stunned, Yea, it is. Howd you know that?

Well, it seems youre my new roommate. What a coincidence! You better lead the way, then We walked along for another few minutes. Again, he talked and my mind wandered off. I thought mainly about how much I truly loathe this place. This planet.

This world. Suddenly, something Jim said caught my attention. Wait, Jim, what did you say? About S -- l? Oh, I said that there have been rumors going around lately that Sl is gonna order all the miners to fight against the guards sometime this week. Interesting.

Pretty much all of the miners hate the guards. I think we have a good chance of overtaking them. We reached my room where I stopped and heaved a sigh of relief. Here we are, Jim. I walked through the automatic door and Jim followed. As soon as the door closed shut and I heard the room being pressurized, I took off my helmet, feeling the cool air which through my hair.

Falling onto my bunk, I fell asleep after only a few seconds. A deep sleep full of recently acquired assurance that I would get off this rock pretty soon. I woke up to the alarm blaring over the loudspeaker in the room. Aug! I groaned as I slowly got out of bed.

I looked over and saw that Jim was also getting out of bed, yet with a little more enthusiasm than I had. We were assigned to the same mine section that day and, once again, he talked and talked while we worked, being frequently reminded by the guards to Shut up and work. Besides that, it was just another typical day in the mines, working until your muscles began to do the work themselves without any real conscious control. A typical day until just a few minutes after our meal.

Everyone continued working when from the speakers inside every miners suit came a voice. He did not say his name, but from just the tone he used, everyone knew it was Sl. Miners! Now is the time to fight back! Now is the time to regain your freedom! Fine your way to Gemulon, the headquarters of the Blue Rebellion!

Blue Rebellion! Blue The voice of Sl was suddenly cut-off and replaced with a very mechanical voice. ALL MINERS ARE REMINDED TO IGNORE ANY PROHIBITED ANNOUNCEMENTS. But even with out the voice of Sl to guide us, the chant continued and, gradually, the miners began to join in. Before I knew what I was doing, the chant began flowing out of my throat, full of a strange sense of pride. The guards attempted to control all the miners and force everyone down with their electric prods, but they were too outnumbered.

Jim and I sneaked up behind one of them and knocked him out. I grabbed the unconscious guards pistol with its holster and Jim took the prod. We werent sure of what to do so we followed everyone else. The miners began splitting off into different groups going in different directions. Jim and I were in a group of about four other people. We began heading along one tunnel that seemed to be going uphill.

As we continued our journey, we would encounter a couple guards every now and then. Because they all carried only prods, they were easily beaten and we were soon all armed with shockers. I also had my pistol, but I was saving it in case I really needed it. There could be no telling when Id find any ammunition. Our hike went on for some time when we turned a corner and...
