In life some people are cut out to be leaders and some are not. In the books Old Man in the Sea, A Raisin in the Son, and Lord of the Flies, have characters that show leadership qualities. My definition of a good leader is someone who does well for people and guides them in their ways. The characters from Lord of the Flies that I think have leadership qualities are Ralph, and Piggy. I think Ralph is a leader because he makes good decisions, and I feel Piggy would be a good leader because he is so intelligent. Santiago from Old Man in the Sea shows good leadership qualities by always staying positive.
And Mama from A Raisin in the Sun is a leader because she is so fearless. The one quality that I think makes me a good leader is that I am outspoken and always listen to what other people have to say. I think that Ralph is a great leader in the novel The Lord of the Flies because he makes good decisions. Ralph is always positive through out the book by believing that someone would come rescue them.
He believed in having assemblies and always having control and order over the others. He wanted to set fire to signal help and at the end of the book it did work, and they were rescued. He wanted to be the leader because he knew he would do a good job, and at first he was until jack took over. That was a bad move the island turned to mayhem and they became savages and killed one another. So overall Ralph would have been a great leader if Jack did not take over with the hunters. I think Santiago is a great leader in the novel Old Man in the Sea because he always stays positive throughout the whole book.
The old man was still confident that he would catch a fish after 84 days of not catching a fish. And on the 85 th day hooked a huge one and was confidant he could take it in. All through the fight for days of tearing up his hands he was still confident of reeling it in. Finally he pulled it up to the boat and speared it till it died. The fish was so big that it would not fit into the boat so he tied it to the side, still being confident that he would get it in to the shore.
What he did not realize was that the blood would attract sharks. Still feeling confident when he was killing the sharks off he realized they were eating away at what he caught. And even after all of the flesh was gone off of his marlin he was still fending off the sharks. As you can see the old man was positive throughout the whole fight not only with the fish but also with the shark to. I think that Piggy would be a great leader In Lord of the Flies because of his intelligence. He was an extremely smart kid and came up with many ideas witch helped the boys, even though he didnt get any credit for them.
He believed in law and order and had many good ideas but when he got the conch, or the right to speak, no one would listen to him. Also his glasses helped the boys tremendously by giving them fire for cooking and signaling help. And all of these things were his ideas but kids got jealous and he was eventually killed. So as you can see Piggy is a great leader because of how intelligent he is with all of the great ideas that he came up with.
I think that Mama is a great leader in A Raisin in the Sun because she shows no fear and seems to be fearless. She is always fearless when she is talking to her son and daughter by making them think and do, as she wants. Mama is fearless when it comes to money, she is laid back and it doesnt even bother her to be poor because money is not important to her. She shows this when she didnt even care about opening the check of 10, 000 dollars when it came. Also she was fearless when it came to moving into the knew house in the white neighborhood. Even though all of the white neighbors didnt want them to move in she did not care and wanted to move in anyway.
Back in those days white people felt that they were better then blacks so they didnt want them in their white neighborhood. So as you can see Mama is a great leader because she is so fearless. I think that I am a good leader because I am outspoken and really listen to what other people have to say. I am a good leader because if I dont like what someone is doing or if I think that I could help that person with what they are doing wrong then I would say something to that person. And also another reason that I think I am a good leader is because I listen to what other people have to say.
And this is very important because by listening to others you may learn more things that could help you In the future. I am very outspoken and always say if I like what is being done or tell them if I do not like what they are doing. In conclusion, I believe that Ralph, the old man, Piggy, Mama, and myself, are all good leaders I their own ways. Ralph makes good decisions, the old man is always positive, Piggy is intelligent, Mama is fearless, and I am outspoken. All of these qualities would make a person a good leader, and as you can see from their qualities all of these characters are good leaders.
