Is the Little Princes Planet a Utopia or Dystopia? Well the answer is different for everybody because no two minds are alike. We live in a world that is full of beauty and destruction. Many people have a different opinion and take pride in what is important to them. The Little Prince lives on a very small planet that is no bigger then he, and has very few possessions, but these possessions are whats important to him.

The prince has three volcanoes and he has a flower, which he believes is like no other flower in the universe. The Little Prince lives a very simple life on his planet and has very few worries, and that is why classifying his planet as a utopia or dystopia is so difficult. The Little Prince lives on his planet all by himself, has three volcanoes, a flower and says he can watch the sunset forty-four times in a day. So by knowing this its obvious that the Little Princes planet should be classified as a dystopia, because theres nothing there. As the Prince goes on his journey throughout the book we come across many things that prove his planet and possessions to be dystopian. The Prince meets a man who says that he owns five hundred and one million, six hundred and twenty-two thousand, seven hundred and thirty-one stars.

He meets a king who says that he rules the entire universe. So how important are the Princes three volcanoes when there is a man who has five hundred and one million, six hundred and twenty-two thousand, seven hundred and thirty-one stars. How important is it that the Prince has his own planet when there is a king who owns the entire universe. The prince also talks about how special his rose is and that there is no other rose like it. While the Prince was on earth, he comes across a garden where he sees a garden full of roses just like the one on his planet He was overcome with sadness. His flower had told him that she was the only one of her kind in all the universe.

And here were five thousand of them, all alike, in one single garden (Antoine, 76) So whats so big about the rose that the Little Prince has in his possession. So how can the Little Princes planet be classified as a utopia when there are millions of people who see the Little Princes planet and possessions to be no better then any other planet or possession anyone else has. If you ask whether or not the Little Princes planet is a utopia, well the answer is very simple, of course it is it has all that he cares about. The Princes planet is a utopia to him and nobody else. The prince knows that there are places in the universe that would make his planet look like a garbage dump, and he knows that some people have things in their possessions that he only dreams about.

The Prince has realized though that these things arent important, he knows that all that is important to him, he already has. While the Prince was on earth he told something to his friend that really explains why his planet is a utopia. All men have the stars, but they are not the same things for different people. For some, who are travelers, the stars are guides. For others they are no more then lights in the sky.

For others, who are scholars, they are problems. But all these stars are silent. You-you alone-will have the stars as no one else has them (Antoine, 93) This quote shows why the Prince sees his planet as a utopia and why nobody else is able to. Everyone just looks at his planet with their eyes and doesnt see anything that they havent seen before. The Prince on the other hand looks at his planet and his possessions with his heart and is the only one who can understand why they make his planet a utopia. So in conclusion, is the Little Princes planet a utopia or dystopia?

Well it is definitely both. Nobody in their right mind would feel the same way about the Prince's planet as the Prince does, because there is nothing in it for them. The Prince realized that he has everything that is important to him and that he is living in his utopia. Nobody can share that with him because they wont truly understand the real importance of everything.

So we have realized through the Little Princes journey that in order to find your own utopia, you have to find what is important to you. You cant try to find happiness in someone elses, because it will not be genuine you will just be fooling yourself.
