See No Evil by Kerry Davis is a short story, and like most short stories it has quite a surprise ending. The twist in this story is that Mrs. Hunter, an elderly women aboard a ship, is reported missing, that was no surprise, as we knew that she had been killed. But what was a shock was the fact that it came to our knowledge that poor Mrs. Hunter was blind.

This meant that she was lost to Davie Jones locker for a reason that did not exist. Stephan Taylor, a thief, was right in the middle of stealing a precious jewel when the door of the cabin he was in opened then mysteriously closed again. He went out to see who it was and saw an elderly women stumbling away. Stephen Taylor followed her and came to the result that she had to go because she had his secret. So Stephen killed her. The next day breakfast the ships captain came to report that Mrs.

Hunter was missing. As Taylor went to pay his remarks, the caption shared that Mrs. Hunter was blind. I think that the first time you read See No Evil it is quite hard to pick out what might happen.

But as you look back at the story you can identify some clues that were edging towards the truth. When Taylor went out onto the deck to see who had opened the doors, he saw Mrs. Hunter not walking but stumbling away. In between the lines of See No Evil there is a very subtle clue that there might be something up. When Mrs.

Hunter is leaving dinner she is accompanied by a young man, then he says to her okay, no dont worry, Ill go and get it for you and leaves her. Mrs. Hunter does not make and move to walk back to her cabin, but stands there. It was then that Stephan Taylor approached her. Her eyes widened in horror of was she really just attempting to see?

The fact that she didnt struggle much, just a faint splash and cry is strange as well, because normally people would scream and struggle greatly if they were being pushed over board a ship. I think that the ending of See No Evil was a surprise because you would never think that Mrs. Hunter would be blind, even with the title, See No Evil. It was such a twist. The story ended right at the climax, the caption had told Stephan that Mrs. Hunter was blind and we were left with Stephan's reaction.

I just feel a little dizzy.
