People believe that they should look a certain way because the TV shows a super model wearing a specific jacket or some other clothing. But in todays society any appearance is acceptable. Yes, some may be looked down upon but it is still acceptable. In this essay I will be discussing what I believe is going on with three short stories and what I think about them.
In the short story Beauty Secrets Lee Damsky tells about her personal life and how it all started off. Lee tells about a little blue tutu that changed her life and made her want to become that perfect woman. Damsky talks about how when she was younger she waited for her period and wanted to hit puberty, and wanted big bouncy breasts. But then she also tells about when she was sixteen she went on a diet.
Then Lee Damsky tells about how she had a eating disorder and she hated her body because she didnt look like she wanted to when she was younger. I believe this story is over dramatic. I think Lee thought way to much of life, thinking that she needs to look a certain way to be loved. Im not the type of person to sit around and hear someone cry about their eating disorder because there too lazy to go out for a run. As for the acne that all goes away with time and medicine.
But when you think your fat you need to work out, hit the gym. This is where people in the USA need to stop being so lazy because over 31 percent or roughly 59 million people of the US is obese because of being lazy. (web health / obesity -rate. htm) The story Cro-Magnon Karma written by Chris Godsey. Tells about how men are starting to be more like women with their appearance. He tell how million of men are sacrificing important time to go to the gym and work about.
Chris says he has friends that are manly men but worry about what their butt looks like in a pair of jeans. This to me is funny, I think yes men should look good in what they dress and yes dudes should not weight 300 pounds. But this dont mean people have to go out and were important time on the gym. Women dont look at a man because of what he looks like. Women look at a man if he is funny, has some style, talks/ acts appropriate, and just makes sure the female has a fun time. Godsey even states that he is married but still worrier's about what he looks like!
This is stupid, yes he should makes sure he is not turning into a slob, but his wife is going to love him no matter what. I gue's you could call me a ladies man but look at me I dont care what my body looks like because its all charm. Men have to learn how to set the moment right. They need to learn what the woman wants. They dont want to sit around the house all day they want excitement, and just to have fun with the person they love.
The Story The Breaking Model by Gracila (Check) H. Rodriguez. This story talks about how a young female from a yong age wanted to be that TV actress or a model. She got runner up a fashion show and won a scholarship to a model school where her parents payed two thousand dollars for her to go to. There a man told her that she was too big and needed to loose weight fast. This turned Garcia to anorexia and bulimia.
She would run around behind her parents puking up the food she just eat at the dinner table. Then she would also barley eat at all. She never felt like she has the perfect body so she stayed with her eating disaster till she was down to a size one. Even their she didnt feel perfect. In this story I feel people would blame society for this. But I dont see how.
This is her fault. She doesnt think she is perfect, but can you name one person in your life that thinks they have a perfect body? Dont think so. But anyway it all just what people think about them self. I know I must sound mean but I believe hard work pays off. So if she did a proper diet with excessive she would have been fine and lost the proper weight to become a actress or a model.
Overall what people think about themselves everyone feels the same. No one in the world thinks they have the perfect body. But hard work pays off so people need to eat right and work out. As for people playing society and TV, I believe that is wrong because they need to fess up to their problems and not blame other people...
TV has people that way because SEX SELLS. Men will buy anything with a naked girl on it. So overall I just believe that when people get sick they need to blame it on someone so they blame it on tv when they should be taking the blame.
