Two of the greatest Revolutions that occurred between the late 1700 's through the mid- 1800 's, is the American Revolution and the French Revolution. The American was a huge turning point in American history, and the French Revolution was one of the most important events in the history of the world. Both of these revolutions had great impacts both then and now. The American Revolution marked the end of the British rule and the beginning of the new self-governed America. The American Revolution began when the king of Britain sent colonists over to the new world to colonize in the first thirteen original colonies.
Britain began to put taxes on needed items such as stamps, tea, sugar, and newspapers. This outrage began the rebellion of the Americans against the British. One of the first significant events of the Revolution was the well-known Boston tea party. And so the Revolution began. During the American Revolution, ideas from the Old World were put to the test. Ideas such as separation between the church and the state, written constitutions, and sovereignty of the people were just a few.
When the American colonists won their independence from Britain, the United States of America was created. The French Revolution was mostly caused by the disputes between the different social classes in the French society and their ideas in which to control the government. At the time of the revolution, France was the most powerful state in Europe. The authorities of kings, priests and nobles were questioned during this time.
Many new political meanings and ideas were introduced to the people, many which would later be useful. New political forces such as democracy and nationalism were developed because of the French Revolution. The American Revolution and French Revolution, occurring at about the same time, has both a number of differences, and some similarities. The French Revolution was a bloody, violent war, while the American Revolution, for the most part, was not very violent. Though there were differences in these revolutions, both were important events in world history.
