Photos bring memories back to life. Each photo tells a different story, sometimes things you dont always like to remember. The photo that I have chosen is of a young girl in a pretty formal dress. She is holding a packet of Minutes, her favourite lollies. Her grandma gave them to her right after she performed in a concert for her dancing school.

Athol Williby School of dance, a place shed been going to for 3 years, since she was 7 years old. Every Monday her mother would drop her off out the front of the old office building. Shed walk down the lakeway round the back, up the old wooden stairs into a change room. A change room where all the older girls gossiped as she and her friend arrived. Her friend was Melanie, there were best friends since there had both started ballet 3 years before. The young girls looked up to the older girls, not just because they could do all the ballet moves the younger girls couldnt, because they stood up to themselves when big noise was around.

They werent afraid of big noise like the younger girls were. The first time the young girls encountered big noise was at their very first dance concert. Athol Williby School of dance held a dance concert every year for all of its student s to show off the hard work they had put in all year. The young girls were really excited because this was there first concert in front of hundreds of people, they didnt want to get a move wrong. Theyd been practising for months in the little old office, also known as the dance school. Everyone was told to meet at the rear entrance of the theatre at 1. 30 pm sharp for dress rehearsal.

As everyone was arriving the young girls noticed how many people actually went to the dance school. They were shocked; theyd only seen the older girls that gossiped in the change rooms before class. As the doors opened and everyone moved into the building, a tall lady with red curly hair and a big noise came into view. She was screaming instructions at everyone; they just kept walking through the doors. The young girls walked into change room 8. It was huge with ballet costumes on hangers.

There were lights around the mirrors just like in the movies. The little girls felt very glamorous. They were told to sit on the ground and wait until Marie, the lady that would be looking after and helping them get into their costumes, came. The young girls sat and waited patiently, giggling excitedly about which costumes they would get to wear.

All of sudden like a gust of wind the door flung open and in came the screaming lady with red curly hair and a big noise. All the young girls gasped. Marie as she was called stood over all the girls and looked down on them. Why arent you girls in your costumes yet? Everyone looked down, no one said a thing everyone was too scared. Well hurry up them, its those ones on the rack over there Everyone rushed over to the rack she had pointed at and started putting on his or her costumes.

Ill be back in 5 minutes, all of you better be dressed by the time I come back When the door shut everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Mandy one of the girls that had done a concert before spoke up. Thats Marie; shes not very nice. Dont talk back to her, the last girl that did that didnt get to perform What happened? Melanie asked. Big noise, also known as Marie, told Katie that she had to wear Jenny costumes because it was too small for Jenny.

Katie told her it would be way too small for her and that Jenny should find her own costume. Big noise went right off, she told her that she had no respect and that she would never dance again, and Katie didnt. Mandy explained. Well thats not fair, if shes mean to me Ill tell her to go stick it. Said the girl in the photo.

Everyone looked at her, they all knew that she would if big noise was mean to her. The door flung open and big noise walked in. Why the hell havent you got your costumes on? The young girl and her friend Melanie stepped up. Your supposed to help us, we dont know which layers to put on first or what goes on who said the young girl.

Well you should know, silly silly girls, screamed big noise. Hurry up we dont have much time and if you arent ready then you wont dance. The young girl felt brave, she knew she might not be able to dance if she said what she was about to say, but she knew someone had to stand up to big noise. I dont know how to get into my costume, you are supposed to help me and I dont care if I dont dance because it will be your fault. She shouted. Big noise was shocked; no one had ever said they didnt care if they didnt dance.

With that she picked up a costume and started to help all the little girls. The performance the girls put on was grand; they danced like they had never danced before, especially the girl in the photo. She was proud of herself for sticking up for everyone and she also learnt she could do just as many moves as the older girl, ever if they werent perfect. I know how this young girl in the photo felt when she put on a winning performance because I am that young girl in the photo and I did stick up to Marie the mean old lady with the big noise.
