Throughout the course of ones life, one will face many fulcrums to either conquer or flee from. The choices one makes at these times will become so crucial to the course of ones life, so that contentment within their life will ensue. The earliest turning point that one will face will come at such an early age that it is not usually recognized as a turning point. Sometime during infancy, the abilities of communication and mobility are attained. Simple communication makes your power in this world increase drastically. The more your communication develops the more you can specifically inform people of what your wants are.

To an infant, this is very important. The next era of change is referred to as the adolescence. As any adult will tell you, this is the first challenge in life. It is said to be hard, but not to be the hardest point of growth in life. It more or less serves as a test. Those who succeed, leave childhood with the confidence to lead happy and successful lives.

It is a weeding out process naturally provided by whatever society the child is born into. It is a foundation to build from. Once out of childhood and into adulthood, one has started the beginning of the rest of ones life. It is arguably the longest lived stage in life. However, rarely enough this is the case. As an adult, you assume the leadership position in society.

An adult must assume the leadership roll to be considered an adult. Upon adulthood you have now done what future generations have not and are therefore more adequately equipped to contribute to society. The midlife crisis may also be labeled as a turning point in life. It is generally thought of in a gender biased circumstance, males being the only sex thought to experience it. It is experienced by both sexes. It can be a humbling or terrifying experience.

The root of the problem is that death now appears nearer than ever before possible. Those that are frightened live the rest of their life in a unsure condition, forever trying to live. Those that are humbled continue building their support structure of a life and work towards the idealistic life of retirement, in which they can live happily. The ultimate goal by all is to live.

To live is the opposite of to die. Death being the ultimate end. Christian Society and the disbelief in immortality, has lead to the present day American view of what life should, and has to be. Post midlife crisis, or elder adulthood, is referred to as being middle-aged. This period is experienced by the people who were humbled at the middle-aged fulcrum. Those that were frightened are still frightened to this point and miss this turning point all together.

Senior citizenship is a time of honor for those who successfully achieved a happy life. Those that missed the middle-aged period are driven further into fear by senior citizenship, and run amuck in society trying to fight societies direction and revert to the familiar lifestyle of their optimal happiness. Death cannot be discussed on a theoretical basis, and not be argued. Religion and personal belief is the only medium that one can find on the subject. It will never be truly be discovered as to what the process of the after life is. Only time will tell.
