The Beatles were, and are without a doubt the most famous band in the history of music. The group was started up in 1957 by two upper-class young men by the names of Paul McCartney, and John Lennon. In 1958 the duo had an audition for a 3 rd member. George Harrison came along, and was of course brought into the group.

George Harrison, unlike his two other members had come from a poor family, he was the only child to make it through into college from his family. George had started to get into music when his parents forked out 3 pounds to buy him his 1 st ever guitar. She helped him learn to play the guitar as well, and was a big influence in George s future success. After learning the guitar, he convinced his parents to pay 30 pounds for an electric guitar.

George became obsessed with his music as he slacked in his schoolwork just to play his guitar. The Beatles trio slowly started getting paid for they re work as they played in small gigs. They were a rock band, but they had one problem, no bass, and not even a regular drummer. Eventually they gave the drumming job called Pete Best. Pete was ok for a while, but he never really fitted in with the group at all.

The Beatles manager during all this time was a man called Allan Williams! But the Beatles had had enough of Williams and got rid of him and hired Epstein. After a few months of looking for a record contract, Epstein finally found one with Parlophone Records, and the Beatles were on they re way. The Beatles never told Pete Best about they re new record deal, and fired him on the spot. But who was to drum for them? Richard Starkey was hired.

Of course no-one knows him as that, people just call him Ringo Starr. Ringo had come from an even worse background then George Harrison. His parents were separated, he had fallen behind in school, and he spent 10 weeks in a coma when he was just six. Then his mum re-married, and he got a set of drums given to him at the age of 12. The only thing Ringo had to do to join the Beatles was brush his hair forward. The Beatles went to work on they re 1 st album, and they re 1 st single, Love Me Do went slowly up to no. 1 on the charts.

That was followed by From Me To You, She Loves You, and I Want To Hold Your Hand, all no. 1 s. They re early success had been noticed all over the world, especially in America. The Beatles went to America for the 1 st time in 1963 to promote themselves further, and the Americans loved them. The Beatles then got three TV shows in New York, each worth $ 2400. This was HUGE compared to they re 40 pounds or so they got for gigs back in Liverpool. The Beatles kept releasing they re albums &# 038; singles over the next few years, and even got they re 1 st movie, A Hard Days Night.

They re going rate per TV show was now at around $ 50, 000. They visited the queen, got married and enjoyed they re new-found fame. They toured Japan, to a bad response, and they started getting into drugs. The drugs led to the tour of India, and the release of Sgt. Pepper. This was a strange but good album by the Beatles.

Things carried on until it was announced that Paul McCartney had split from the Beatles. This created shock all over the world. With the assassination of John Lennon by a drifter called Mark Chapman, the Beatles, in my opinion the greatest band to ever walk the earth were finally finished in 1970. In total, The Beatles released 27 no. 1 singles over they re 13 years of existence, as shown in the recently released Beatles 1 album. There are still rumors of a Beatles reunion tour, with John Lennon s son taking his fathers spot, but nothing is yet to happen. Paul McCartney still has a successful music career as a soloist.

I d say that the Beatles influenced more people than any other people in the History of music, and they ll remain the most popular band ever for a long time to come.
