The investigation of John Fitzgerald. Kennedys assassination was claimed to be closed with a man caught and charged with his murder. However there are many who have different conspiracy theories about his death and who was involved. On November 23, 1963, while driving threw Dallas, Texas, on a speechmaking tour, President Kennedy was shot. Supposedly three shots were fired into the open car, hitting and fatally-wounding the president and seriously wounding John Console, Governor of Texas. (Funk and Wagnalls 207) A lone suspect, Lee Harvey Oswald, was arrested and later killed by nightclub owner, (mafia man), Jack Ruby. (Griffith, Internet) Due to the many questions surrounding the presidents death, the government set up the Warren Commission to look into the matter. L. Hunt, the Mafia, Anti- Castro Cubans, General Edward Lansdale, Richard Nixon (Griffith). Lydon Johnson probably knew about the plot and probably helped in the coverup. Reasons for him wanting JFK dead were that he wanted to become president and he disliked both John and Robert Kennedy (Williams, Internet). Johnson was also in charge of the Warren Commission which seized all evidence and wouldnt release many thousands of documents for a lifetime (Williams, Internet). The CIA had vast experience in sabotage, propaganda, and assassination.
There was evidence that JFK thought the CIA had too much power and that he intended to dismantle it after the 1964 election (Griffith, Internet). This was a very good reason for them to be involved in the assassination. J. Edgar Hoover, head of the FBI, hated the president and tried to get smear tactics used against him. Also, there were taped conversations about the Mafia wanting to kill JFK. Hoover never advised the Secret Service or his boss, the Attorney General-Robert F.
Kennedy, Jfk's brother. Oil baron H. L. Hunt could have also been involved. He had ties to the mob and met with Marina Oswald (Lees wife) two days before the shooting (Griffith, Internet). The Mafia most likely played a big role in the assassination.
They spoke of JFK being killed days before the shooting. Jack Ruby, Mafia man, was seen in Hunts office the day before the shooting. Also Robert Kennedy was raging a war on organized crime. This plan was mysteriously axed after Johnson took over as president (Griffith, Internet).
Anti-Castro Cubans were very unhappy with the failure of the Bay of Pigs invasion. Kennedy had also shut down all their military training camps. (Oliver Stone, JFK) One of the more important men possibly involved in the conspiracy was General Edward Lansdale. He was trying to get JFK to appoint him to ambassador to Vietnam. Kennedy planned to pull out of the war and this upset the General. He was thought to have been involved with companies who were profiting from the war (Oliver Stone, JFK). Lansdale pulled the man that would have been responsible for security and sent him out of the country.
The streets of Dallas were not as secure as they should have been. General Lansdale was also in Dallas the day of the shooting (Oliver Stone, JFK). Richard Nixon was also believed to have had connections with the Mafia and with Ruby. He was also in Dallas two days before the shooting. He said it was for a Pepsi-Cola board meeting, but there was no board meeting held in Dallas in 1963.
He left the Dallas area the morning of the assassination and unlike people could not remember where he was at the time of the situation (Griffith, Internet). Later years would reveal his true character in the In conclusion there are vast amounts of evidence which seem to prove that Oswald did not commit the murder just by himself with no help or encouragement. Two many things dont add up. The ties he had with the mob, the extra shooters, the high- profile people who disliked JFK, and, those who would have benefited from his death- all point to a bigger plot.
