William Wordsworth, a famous poet of the Romantic Period, wrote a great deal of poetry that was inspired by his lifestyle. Wordsworth writes a poem called "Lines" that tells about the contrasts the pinnacles of mother nature and the flaws of mankind that mess the earth up. Wordsworth had a very fond love of nature and a relationship like no one else. The poem "Lines" took the Lake District, described as one of the most beutiful places on earth, gardens and luscious foliage that was flowing endless like the waves of the sea to a gloomy city where flying wildlife was believed to be extinct because of all the pollution that was in the air. The air looked like dark, thick smog. This was a huge contrast from Wordsworth's childhood home in the Lake district with the nature in a sense dead in England at this period in time William lost both his mother and his father at a fairly young age.

He spends much of his childhood in boarding schools, which he seemed to love, and staying with his surviving relatives, which he does not enjoy. At the age of 8, William is losing his mother, Ann, and at 13 years old, William is losing his father, John. This is a vicious blow to young Wordsworth. This event in his life is why some critics say that, that is the reason for William us Nature as a "surrogate mother" after the loss of his maternal mother. Nature is Wordsworth's nurse: "In nature and the language of the sense the anchor of my purest thoughts, the nurse, the guide, the guardian of my heart, and soul of all my moral being." Wordsworth at present is enjoying the fond memories of the Lake District in the blackness of England. Wordsworth is hoping to get "tranquil restoration" out of his memories any time he is bothered by anything.

He is in a city wher the walls have sut on then thick enough that if a carpenters nail were driven into the wall of a building it wold never touch the brick because of all the layering sut over it. Wordsworth is in his thirties at this time and talking to his sister Dorthy trying to help her get an understanding of nature. In the future Wordsworth is hoping that his dinner Dorthy will realize what she can get from nature when he is dead. He wants everyone to "get off on nature" the way he does. "May I behold in thee what I was once, my dear, dear Sister!

and this prayer I make, knowing that nature never did betray the heart that loved her; tiger privilege, through all the years of this our life, to lead from joy to joy: for she can so inform the mind that is within us, so impress with quietness and beauty' and so feed with lofty thoughts, that neither evil tounge's, rash judgements, nor the sneers of selfish men, nor greetings where no kindness is, nor all, the dreary intercourse's of daily life, Shall e'er prevail against us, or disturb our cheerful faith, that all which we behold is full of blessing." In the end he wants everyones life to be full of "wild ecstasies. "Into a somber pleasure: when thy mind shall be a mansion for all lovely forms thy b memory be as a dwelling-place", "Should thy portion, with healing thoughts of tender joy wilt thou remember me. " Nature serves as a healing after Wordsworth's death. Nature is his sisters healing thoughts after his death, nature is a form of consolation for William. Wordsworth is essentially stating that nothing will bother u if u are in tune with nature. Everything is in nature. God is in nature. A healing nurse is in nature.

Consolation for any loss is in nature. Nature is your guardian. Nature is peace of mind. Everything good is nature. Bibliography:
