Imagine being separated from all society because of the color of your skin. Would you think that this separation is fair? Definitely not. Down south in the old days, blacks were segregated this way. They were segregated in many ways. We could categorize those ways into four main categories, socially, economically, politically and religiously.

If you need proof, continue reading my paper on Black segregation. Blacks were segregated socially in many places. The most important place, in my opinion, was school. Blacks went to a special black school for the rejected blacks while white children got to go a school where they were sure to get an exceptional education and a good chance to go to college. Blacks had to cope with a bad education and a slight chance to even graduate from high school. Other places where blacks were segregated from whites were train station waiting rooms, movies, water fountains, restaurants and even seats on a bus or a train.

On a bus or a train, they would usually get a seat in the back with no windows. The whites would get good seats. Also, even though whites and blacks had practically the same religion, they would have to go to separate churches. To me, this makes no sense at all. Why can t they all worship together?

Is the white god only accepting white people? No. What I noticed was that all the places that the blacks were segregated were places where white and black people could get together and socialize. Whites wanted to train their children as they have been raised, to stay away from the black race because black people were inferior and were not as good as the supreme Caucasians.

Economically, the blacks were segregated harshly. They were usually tenant farmers and brought their supplies, such as seed and fertilizer, from the white people. The blacks were scared that if they stepped out of the epitome of a black person, a quiet, tenant farmer (a. k. a. a Jim Crow) the white person would fire them.

Anyways, the black person usually worked for a white. Also, the whites got better facilities because more money was being put towards white facilities. The facilities in which more money was going into was everything from schools to a waiting room. The white people said that because blacks didn t pay as much taxes, they wouldn t get as much. The only reason that a black person couldn t pay as much taxes was because they didn t get as good a paying job as the white people and white society. Also, it was proven that more money was going towards a white child then a black child.

It was a humongous difference. Each white child got 173. 00 dollars at school and each black child got 49. 00 dollars at school. This is obviously unfair. Politically, the blacks had almost no say or power.

This is because no black people worked on a white political staff. This included all courts, a town court to the Supreme Court. I think that some black people were smart enough to work on the staff, only that the people that chose who would be on had a fit when hearing that one of those inferior colored people would be making their laws. They didn t want that.

Black opinions, besides those of NAACP lawyers and staff, were ignored. The only way that the nation could fix these opinions was going to court. There were more laws that gave advantage to a white person than a black person. If in any way, a black person hurt a white person, they would be sent to a black prison. If a white person hit a black, the white person usually wouldn t have to go to prison, unless the black person made a very big deal out of it. This is because many of the people on the judicial staff and working for the police were against black people and thought that blacks were inferior.

If a black person had a position in the judicial staff, I bet that blacks would have equal protection under the law. The 14 th amendment ensures equal protection under the law to all American citizens. Also, black taxes should have been lower then they were because black people didn t have enough money and a high enough education to get a job like the white people and make as much money. If they refuse to, they should atlas give them a better chance to make as much money. Of course, because the black person was so inferior, they couldn t go to church with the white people. White churches looked good and were bigger and better.

I bet everybody in that church had a bible. Probably the only one with a bible in the tiny, run-down black church was the minister. Hopefully, he knew how to use it. In opinion, all though they had a bad church, black people put more spirit into their worship.

When they sang, they would sing as loud as they could and mean it. Whites, they sang but not always followed what they read and said. The blacks listened to the word of God, instead of forgetting it 10 minutes later and oppressing some black person like many members of the KKK did. Speaking of the KKK, the black people weren t allowed to start a religion like a white person could. The KKK was a religion started by the white people, and those dedicated members of the group would do anything to stop a black person that wasn t being a Jim Crow. If a black person tried to start a religion similar to the KKK, they would be ridiculed and probably be killed by the KKK.

As you can see, the blacks were segregated in many ways. The south in those days was tough for blacks. They were segregated socially, economically, politically, and religiously. We should end all segregation and let everybody live together.
