Martin Luther King? s writing style was extremely persuasive. The reason his text has so much power is because what he preached was the truth. He uses facts and well known issues of when blacks stood up for their rights.

People have seen and heard of these things, but never really can relate to them. From reading? Why We Can? t Wait?

the reader feels the emotions that fills these people. When a writing style can stimulate emotions and changes your views you know it is persuasive piece a writing. Everyone has lost something in their lives, from that the readers can relate to people who have lost everything, including rights. Rights; something that is over looked every day. No one realizes what they have, or what opportunities rights give you.

In this country anyone can be what every they want. Think about that, no one telling you what your future will be, you can creating it as you go. For blacks in the Civil Rights era they had nothing like this. They were nothing in our society.

Blacks had no rights, no one to hear their screams, or to end their pain. It was a simple as no one cared, they were looked at as cattle. Their owners would feed they, then send them back into the fields for the day. Martin Luther King Jr. devoted his life to see that this was changed. This form of segregation is still alive to this day.

The very first reason why blacks were looked down on was their skin color. This form a racism still exist in our society, if you look different in any way you are segregated. People automatically think they have the right to look down on you, or to yell out hateful comments. Martin Luther King Jr.

looked as people as people, no one superior. He preached this is every one of his sermons. Martin Luther King Jr. started giving sermons at a very early age.

Most of his views followed those of Dr. Vernon Johns. In that of he believed that colored people were the same as whites, and dissolved the same right. Every man is considered equal; Martin Luther King Jr.

united the colored people to fight for what they legally deserved, their rights. He fought with the most powerful emotions on this earth, love. He organized the direct non-violent action. Blacks would march and fight for their rights in a non violent way. All members of this act where obligated to sign an agreement. They had to promise to?

refrain from the violence of fist, tongue, or heart, they had to strive to be in good spiritual and bodily health, walk and talk in the manner of love, for God is love, ? and more. (64) The direct non-violent action caused absolutely no trouble, but yet still got beaten, killed and raped of their rights. The direct non-violent action consisted of more than marches, and the spreading of love. They fought the signs in store windows that constantly reminded them of the hate, and the little things that ate away at their quality. One being the colored restrooms, and the segregated drinking fountains. The other big achievement they gained was the fight against the bus companies.

It took the same amount of money for a colored persons to ride the bus as a white person, but the colored had to get off the bus and walk to the back to get on. They werent even allowed to walk through the white section. To fight this Martin Luther King Jr. started colored car pools, and encouraged his followers to walk instead of riding the bus. The bus protest started to get peoples attention. There was already a lot heat on the companies after the incident with Rosa Parks, when she got arrested for not moving out of the white section.

Eyes were beginning to open to the hate in the south. People in the north, east, and west began to see the horrible images of colored people being killed, beaten, and getting blasted with fire hoses on their televisions. Stories are stories, but when the people of this country saw with their own eyes what was going on in the south, things started to change. The media got on the story of slavery, and everyone in the world saw what was really going on. Slavery was the thing that split this country apart.

Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the main reasons why the racism in the south got so much publicity. With his direct non-violent action he gave the colored people of the south their well dissolved given rights. Racism is still alive in our society today. Blacks in the south still feel the hate, see the horrid images of killings, and black churches getting torched are still on the televisions on night. There are many other new forms of hate.

It seams to me that anyone in this culture different is segregated. When I am with my friends walking down the street, couples with cross the road and walk the other side of the street to avoid us. Just because we dress a little strange. I mean come on, grow up, cloths are cloths, they are made from the same hands, and the same people wear them.

They say the way I dress is not? normal. ? Who the in the hell has set this definition. Why do people wearing blue jeans and a T-shirt think their dressing normal?

Last time I checked the dictionary doesn? t have a picture defining? normal. ? People are just to afraid to dress how they feel, because they don? t want to deal with the criticism. The fact is the people who make fun of me are jealous, there jealous because I look the way they feel.

This form of segregation does not stop at fashion. Gay people get the same treatment. Here is a person who is born a certain way, and they cant do anything about the way they feel. There emotions, you can? t change them.

So what if their own gender attracts them. They are still people and they still deserve the same amount of respect as anyone else. You think they like to get made fun of? Or having their life threatened? They can?

t change the way they are, and they shouldn? t have too. There is always going to be someone in this world that thinks you are doing something wrong, or they dont believe in what you believe. Is that a reason to loose respect?

If that is the case the word respect would be tarnished. People need to start living their own lives, and stop worrying about what other people are doing. Every time someone makes a comment about me, or my gay friends they are invading our space. If I were naked, and they didnt know my friend was gay, there would be no problem.

People have to learn how to have an open mind, not be so judgmental, and stop playing God. Not until this will racism and prejudice with wiped of this earth. 32 b
