The Lord Of The Rings By: J. R. R. Tolkien The Lord Of The Rings chronicles, is a prelude: The Hobbit, and three chronicles: The Fellowship of The Ring, The Two Towers, The Return of The King written by J. R. R.
Tolkien. I didn t choose to read him, yet I was pressured into reading the Hobbit, and couldn t stop without reading the other three books. I love the theme of this man. He writes in a very detailed, , mind-catching, fantasy world. I get pulled back into his books because, he really expresses the nature of people, through funny little characters in whole new worlds.
He even adds wonderful, descriptive artwork to his reading, to aid the reader in understanding the state the races were in. I have recommended this book to many people that don t prefer to read, and they most likely get hooked on his style of writing. He is a very fun author to read. he expresses his philosophy of writing, and life, through the tasks of the simple man, and his Christian beliefs.
The Hobbit (287 pages) Tolkien wrote this book in a world of fantasy, to reflect the certain truths about the real world. He does this by putting the characters into the same situation that humans are put into everyday. Should you choose right over wrong? Concern yourself about the wars around you? Should you live in your thoughts, and nobody else s for risk of losing your life? It s great.
He gets this perspective from his Christian perspective. In this book, the good characters (elves, dwarves, humans) are put up to a great tests of their strengths throughout the book. They must choose their direction in traveling, and take risks that could cost them their life, for the well-being of their race. The characters learned to live life the right way by being put up to all those tests.
All of these races are forced to unite as one to defeat good and evil (animals. ) Of course, the good race comes out on top, and starts the chronicles of The Lord of The Rings. The Fellowship of The Ring (527 pages) This book must of been a challenge to Tolkien in producing it. He is put to the task (and exceeds very well), in making his own fantasy world come alive, and has to make up the cultures within also. He goes through different ages of civilization in all races, all of them finding out that their own language opens the door to the next one.
This book not only entertains, but teaches the reader about humanity. His relates some ages to those of our World Wars and technology. And people even think that his world is mostly related to that of Europe! He also teaches and directs his meanings through his Christian beliefs, which is great for me. This happens by having the beautiful things in life disappear, and evil strikes everywhere. Yet, the Hobbits come through with great courage, simplicity of their hearts, and save the power.
This book really kicked off the trilogy, and gave the readers a wonderful picture of the world, and how it works under these races power. In this book, the characters learn that the simple things really can make a difference, and are the most important things they have in life. Those things open many doors for the Hobbits, and leads the story on farther into the two other books. The Two Towers (447 pages) I think this was the worst book of the trilogy. It focused on one main thing, the downfall of the power of the Hobbits and other good races, and the loss of the fellowship of the ring.
But, Tolkien once again teaches and entertained his readers. He mostly pointed out the fact that in life, you take the risks and choices of life or death. You can choose wrong or right, and good or evil. In this book, the characters are faced with choosing the path to their OWN safety in the East, or to unite and aid the race in a war to the west. The good and evil are once again created in this book, by using the characters at war with other races, and the rulers and powers of the rings. The rings control the life of every race in that world, and must be in the right hands.
The Hobbits once again, find that their most important tool, their minds and hearts, will guide them to the right choices in their struggle to defeat evil, and gain the rings. This set the stage for the final book of the trilogy, by showing the downfall of the good race, and the uprising of evil in the wars, and in the possession of the evil rings. The Return of The King (520 pages) This was the best conclusion that could have ever been written for this trilogy. It contained so much evil in it, it was actually bone-chilling. He really brought forth his religious beliefs, bringing horrible worlds, devil-type creatures, powerful and trustworthy leaders. Through this book, he taught us about the ways that people seek to find help, through their struggles.
The way that evil does exist, and we must face it in order to succeed. The Hobbits have to unite, and choose a leader to lead them through evil and disaster in order to have them live in peace, without evil. The way, we excel someone in order for them to lead us through good and bad times, and how we put our lives and faith into that one person. The Hobbits put all of their lives into one man s hands Faramir. Even if they re defending our existence. This book really hit me hard, pounding thoughts into my mind like What is he saying here, Who does this relate too? , and Is this what our society and world is really like.
He showed evil, good, and leadership in a great, mind twisting conclusion to the trilogy. It really made you think of how much evil surrounds our lives, and how we must know what we are doing, for our every action chooses the way our lives will turn out. It was great reading a fictional, Christian author s thoughts in wonderful lands of fantasies. In a trilogy depicting at great odds the struggle of good versus evil as the little Hobbit Frodo advances to destroy the Ring of Doom through the pits of Mordor against Sauron himself.
