John Wesley, a believer in the small group pattern for church growth, felt that this was most important. Howard Sender once noted, Virtually every major movement of spiritual renewal in the Christian church has been accompanied by a return to the small group and the proliferation of such groups in private homes for the Bible study, prayer, and the discussion of the faith. This was a definite at Sicklerville, not only in the home were they meeting, but also at the dinner and in the school. I see this as a value of developing a support group of all leaders of house groups in a given area and else wise in the church. They will see the group leader not only open to God but to each other, thus freely the pastor to form other ministers within the church. Paul and William Temple both aimed at making people mature in Christ. Both felt that Maturity in Christ refers therefore to our relationships at home and at work, our leisure, our use of time and money, our involvement in society-in other words, our whole style of living.
