On March 8, 1999 with the passing of Joe DiMaggio America may have lost one of the great baseball players and American symbols of our time. Baseball has produced many icons, but it has only produced one Joe DiMaggio. I would like to take the great DiMaggio fishing. They say his father was a fisherman.

Joe, the eighth of nine children, was born Nov. 25, 1914, in Martinez, California, a small fishing village twenty-five miles northeast of San Francisco.
