Description of Island in Lord of the Flies To describe the Island from the novel Lord Of the Flies I would be able to describe it in one word, PARADISE. Its just wonderful and would be a paradise to anyone. From what we have read the island is roughly boat shaped and is surrounded by a coral reef. There is a huge scar from the middle of the island to the lagoon where the plane disappeared. As I said there is a lagoon that is on the beach side of the island. There is a long stretch of beach on the one side of the island and on the other side there is a steep cliff.
This is as the island is the top of a volcano. On one side of the island there is a mountain which is the highest point on the island. The vegetation consists mostly of shrub and thicket with some grass and ferns. When we met Piggy he had just had diarrhoea from eating the fruit that a particular tree had. There were also lot of palm trees on the beach and surround. Under the palm tress there is some coarse grass and scattered and decaying coconuts.
The lagoon is still as a mountain lake with the water colour blue of all shades with some shadowy green and purple and is surrounded by some pink granite in the water. The reef surrounds the lagoon and water is extremely hot. The reef prevents the salt water from entering the lagoon causing it to heat faster. This is all that we know from the first chapter, as the children have not yet ventured out into the island more. They have stayed nearby and have ventured to the mountain but not inside the forest. The island is amazing and seems to be very beautiful.
