Arizona is a very interesting state. One reason is because of its geography. There are many amazing places of interest. Arizona is also a very religious place. I think that the trivia of Arizona is very informative. Arizona's history is one of the most interesting of all the states.

The first is The Grand Canyon. It is a very popular and I think the most because its sights and how high it is, is incredible. Many people each year come to see this amazing place. The next interesting place is Hoover Dam. This is an amazing place and it is a man made wonder of the world. It is one of the biggest dams in the world.

Next there is the Sedona Red Rocks. These are rocks that are in the color of reddish brown and stand tall in the Sedona Dessert. These are in the city of Flagstaff, one of the main cities in Arizona. Last but not least there is the Four Corners. This is the meeting point of the four states Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, and of course Arizona. This is the only spot in the country were four states meet in the United States.

Those are places of interest that are really exciting and amazing and I hope you get a chance to see some of them. There are three major religions in Arizona. They are the Roman Catholic, Mormon, and Southern Baptist Convention. Arizona is almost all-Roman Catholic accept for 2 other counties in the state. The Roman Catholic religion believes in Jesus the Son of God. They believe in only one powerful God.

They believe that Mary was a virgin. They believe in everlasting life in heaven. Last they believe in the Ten Commandments and follow them. Next there is the Mormon religion.

They believe in God the eternal father. They also believe that men will be punished for their own sins and not for Adams transgression. They also believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved. They also believe in the same organization that existed in the primitive church.

Last they believe that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. Last there is the Southern Baptist Religion. It was formed in 1845 for the explicit purpose of fulfilling our mission task. They have supported missions faithfully and generously. They believe in helping everyone. They donated over 200, 000, 000 dollars to people in 20 years.

That is what this religion is all about. As you can see Arizona's people are very religious and believe in helping people. That is religion in this state. There are many things about Arizona that are very interesting.

One of them is the State bird, which is the Cactus wren. It is the state bird because it is one of the only birds that flies in the desert. Next there is the state flower which is Saguaro cactus blossom. It is this flower because it is one of the most beautiful flowers that can last in a desert without a constant supply of water. Last there is the state motto. It is Data Deus, which mean in Latin God Enriches.

I think this was choose as a motto because of all of the beautiful landforms God made there. That was some of states trivia. The Apache Indians reached Arizona. What was discovered was a land of amazing mountains. It was discovered in 10, 000 BC. It was in the area where the Indians arrived from the south from Mexico and extended to California and New Mexico.

The reason it was founded was because the Indians migrated from place to place. It was discovered by the Indians by them claiming it like they did the other land. Now you know the History of Arizona and you know how important it is. There were many important events that made Arizona famous.

One of them was when was when the Indians reached Arizona in 10, 000 BC. The Indians came from the south near Mexico. They extended to the other states. It was the first state to be found in the South West area.

Another important event is the discovery of Pluto the 9 th planet. It was founded in the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona. Clyde Tombaugh discovered it in 1930. He used the Facility's 24 in. Clark Refractor telescope. The last event is Arizona becoming the 48 th state.

It happened in 1912. It was on February 14. It was the last state that is on our country grounds. Those are some of the important events that made Arizona the great state that it is. There are many famous people in Arizona's history. One of them is Sandra Day OConnor.

She started out on a ranch in Flagstaff. At the Age of 22 she became a jurist. Then she opened up a private law practice in Phoenix in 1959. From 1969 through 1975 she was the state senator. During her years as senator she became senate majority leader from 1973 through 1974.

She had a seat on the Marcopia County's superior from 1975 to 1979. She then went to the court of appeals from 1979 to 1981. In 1981 she was accepted into the Supreme Court as an associate justice. I think she deserves to be on the famous people list because she was the first woman in the U. S. to have that position.

This shows that brains really counts when you get older. Another famous person is William Hub Rehnquist. He started out as a lawyer in Phoenix. He later became a judge. He then practiced law in Phoenix from 1953 to 1969. He became the assistant to the U.

S. attorney general from 1969 to 1971. After that position he became the associate justice in the Supreme Court. He held that position for 15 years. Then finally he became the chief justice in the Supreme Court. He held the highest position from 1986.

As you can see the two people I choose both dealer with the law. If it werent for their precise judgment on the stand some criminals would be out on the streets today. That is why I choose them. There are many major cities in Arizona.

I choose two of them for my report. The first is Phoenix, the capital of Arizona. It is located in Marcopa County. It is 1, 640 ft. above sea level. It has many bordering cities.

Some are Scottsdale, Mesa, Glendale, and Temple. Its longitude is 112 degrees North. Its latitude is 33 degrees West. The population of Phoenix is 789, 704 people in the 1980 census. It was founded in 1867.

Around 8 inches of precipitation fall every year. Phoenix is a great city filled with tons of friendly people. I have been there so I know how it is. If you get a chance you should go.

The next city I choose was Sedona. It is located in the Coconino County. It is 6, 562 ft. above sea level. More than 16 inches of precipitation falls there every year. Sedona is a city with great sites and landmarks.

The famous Red Rocks are located there. There is a lot of mining done in Sedona every year. In fact 6 new rocks were founded there in the last ten years. A lot of beef cattle are in the Sedona area. There is also a lot of wheat farming done.

Sedona's longitude is 112 degrees North. The latitude is 35 degrees West. Now you can see why I choose these two cities. They are great places for tourism so please try to get to them. In conclusion I would like to say that Arizona is a great place to see at least once in a lifetime. It is very interesting and historical.

There are a variety of tourist attractions. Even if you dont get a chance to go there try to read a book about it and see some great and beautiful pictures. Thank you. Bibliography:
