The Philosophy of the Middle Ages is almost entirely based on the belief of an all-powerful, omnipotent, and benevolent god. The belief in a god being required to verify the legitimacy of the medieval periods arguments dictates that these arguments are flawed. With an agnostics view, God either does not exist or he is not worth worshipping. The god with whom the medieval philosophers relate to must be an imperfect being if it allows this world to degrade to the way it is now. Therefore the instrument of this gods worship is flawed.

The philosophical views expressed from the Middle Ages either agree or disagree with a Plato, Aristotle, and Socrates. These philosophers have made phenomenal insights for there times but do not have all the facts to reanalyze their view to one based on scientific fact. The human consciousness neither depends nor is influenced by the existence of a god. Human beings are products of evolution and developed the mind over thousands of years of competition with other animals as a tool for survival. Human beings have used this tool to develop a complex social structure and in the process a worldwide civilization. If God really existed then why would it stand by and let its devout followers slaughter, in the end, millions of innocent people?

How could an omnipotent, benevolent god allow its followers to do this? This is the original basic for an agnostic or atheists point of view on the subject of a deity. Over the centuries, even the most noble of figures has slaughtered the innocent in the name of their god. During the Crusades, thousands of people died trying control lands considered holy by both parties.

The real irony of that situation is the fact that the warring religions were each started by a dispute between two brothers. This god allowed the holiest man the world, The Pope, to become corrupt. At one point in the late Middle Ages, a person could buy any sort of pardon to ensure their place in heaven. If the holiest man in the world could be consumed with greed then what does that say about the god that billions of people have devoted their lives worshipping? God does not exist. With the advent of civilization came a system of castes or system of organized specialization.

One caste of people is devoted to study of the physical aspects of the universe. These people study science by observation and experimentation. Anything that could not be explained at a given time was said to have happened through the will of a god. But through centuries of observation, innovation, and further experimentation, a majority of the things that were dismissed as acts of God and could not be explained are now understood to be natural phenomenon and can be reproduced under controlled conditions.

In finding the answer to long-standing questions, more questions arise to further challenge the human intellect. For example, if one had told a person in the year 1900 that there would be a cure for a simple infection, that there would be commercial flight all over the world. That a small piece of silicone the size the head of a pin could perform a mathematical calculation one billion times per second, that we would send a man to the moon, communicate instantaneously with any place on the globe through artificial satellites orbiting the earth. Or that an animal could have and exact copy of it created with a few of its cells.

All of these events are common knowledge today, so image what will be common knowledge one hundred years from now. The fact of the matter is that science will continue to disprove the concept of the existence of a god. It is best to believe that human beings are essentially good creatures, but are easily misguided in to damaging situations that are difficult find an easy solution to. That is another reason why they try look to a high all mighty power for guidance when in fact the human mind just needs time to correlate all the information and process it in the most efficient manner and coordinate the solution.

The doctrine worshipped by organized religion is flawed worse than the concept of an eternal, omnipotent, benevolent god. The Old Testament of the Bible was passed down from generation to generation for a thousand years before it was written down. Now over that period of time the stories must have been exaggerated, and added to in order have a more phenomenal effect on the recruits to the religion. As history has also show is that it is by the victors. The events of battles are often exaggerated worse than those of a parable.

The Bible is full parables and does teach valuable moral lessons. The existence of Jesus Christ is not in dispute, but that he was the son of a god is impossible. Accurately recorded census records show that his family was travelling back to their place of origin for this event. Jesus was no more than a manipulative, charismatic, con man with good intentions. The same situation of manipulation still occurs to this day. These people who peddle salvation and are most only in the game for greed are know as evangelists.

Jesus did not preach salvation for a price because the people he was helping had nothing of value he could take. Thousands of people have died for their beliefs, and he should not have been any different. Recently uncovered data has shown that his injuries, though ultimately fatal, would have necessarily killed him immediately. He was just unconscious. He seemed to be dead and was buried, and was then seen alive. He must have died shortly afterwards.

The people who worship him say he accented in to heaven. This is impossible, just wondered off and died. To say that a body was never found s inconclusive. Could people really claim know the location of every person who has ever died? Organized religion is the most rigid, prejudice, and unforgiving institution man has created. It claims to worship its all powerful, benevolent god but rarely forgives.

Historically, the only it has been quick to do is persecute with little or no evidence. This stems from the fact that its teachings are flawed. Looking at the Salem Witch Trials and the Spanish Inquisition, organized religion is the quickest to destroy all that it perceives as different even if the difference is not a threat. Later evidence has shown that there was a fungal infestation in the wheat crop that produced the drug LSD, which cause hallucinations the people who testified against the accused. The prosecutors of the accused used their blind interpretation of flawed doctrine to destroy what they could not understand. They destroyed what they did not even try to understand.

Organized religion was first implemented as way of controlling the less educated, but not necessarily less intelligent. It has been used as a way to persecute the more intelligent for questioning the beliefs of the people in power. It is truly a crutch for weak-minded people who would rather destroy a thing of beauty than to understand its complexity. Anselm tried to prove that god existed through a series of mathematical equations appealing to intellect of the most brilliant people of his time. The argument is still under debate. But the truth is that the equation is a play on words and nothing more.

To say that-than-which-nothing-greater-can-be-thought is a flawed equation. It means to say the human mind can fully comprehend all that it means to a god. This not possible because mathematics has not fully defined infinity. As we further evolve and with further experimentation, observation, and innovation, infinity may yet be defined and explored. The only way to solve the controversy of the existence of God is to make ones own decisions on the subject.

No ones views are more valid than any other persons is. Likewise no one should ever impose his or her beliefs on other people. This is a form of disrespect for other people to make their own valid decisions. Also, nobody should ever censor the beliefs of other people in anyway, even if the views expressed are offensive. 344
