Cloning is the Cloning Cloning Cloning is the artificial production of organisms with the same genetic material. The complicated process of cloning has been a controversy in the United States today. Cloning has only been proven to work on animals and plants. According to Kolkata, Dr. Ian Wilmut and Dr.

Keith Campbell, of Roslin Institute in Edinburgh, Scotland produced Megan and Morag; the first cloned sheep from embryo cells. That was just the beginning of their tests. On July 5, 1996 at 4: 00 P. M. lamb number 6 LL 3, better know as Dolly, was born in a shed down the street from the institute. Dolly weighed in at 14 pounds and was healthy.

The process of cloning was accomplished by using frozen mammary cells taken from a six-year-old pregnant ewe and fusing them with an enucleated egg (A 1). This process had a lot of failures and took a long time to perfect the process. Cloning should not be used in the United States today because it has not yet been perfected, it causes a threat of a master race, and it is morally wrong. The process of cloning has only been accomplished on plants and animals; however, the science has not been advanced far enough to clone humans safely. To successfully clone the sheep Dolly, it took Dr. Wilmut and Dr.

Keith 277 tries, and this proves how cloning has not yet been perfected to try on human beings. Because cloning has not yet been perfected there is a risk of making mistakes with humans. If a mistake was made somewhere in the process and the human came out deformed, then what would happen? The deformed clone can not just be thrown out or aborted because of a lab mistake because then that would be murder. The risk of mistake shows why cloning should not be used. Another extreme possibility would be a threat of a master race.

If we could clone humans, then people like Adolph Hitler and other dangerous terrorists and murders would be cloned. ? ? Hitler believed in a master race in which every man, woman, and child was blue-eyed, and blond-haired. This master race was superior to all others because it possessed the strongest genes. He felt that all other races were inferior and though they should be destroyed? ? (Bailey). If human cloning occurred there would be efforts to create a master race. Another threat of a master race would be only perfect people surviving.

This would occur because only the perfect person would be cloned. The perfect clones would threaten society and the not so perfect people in the world would become extinct. These two examples show how human cloning would pose a threat of a master race. The final reason against human cloning is that it is morally wrong. Human cloning would be taking God?

s work into our own hands. The scientists making the clone would be playing the role of God. God creates each person to be unique and if a person has a clone, then that person would lose his or her uniqueness. Cloning is morally wrong because it goes against the claims of some religious groups. In the church, many religious organizations are against cloning and it is morally wrong to go against the claims of the church.

In conclusion, with the information I have provided to back up my arguments, cloning should not be used in the United States because it has not yet been perfected, it causes a threat of a master race, and it is morally wrong.
