Throughout the course of a couple s relationship, the man was constantly in turmoil. The man, Avery, cycled through his emotions and feelings constantly due to the woman, Michelle. Whether it be her actions or her words, Avery would always act in the way that he thought Michelle would accept the most. Avery lived his life on the basis of Michelle s happiness until he went through two weeks of self worth and realization.

From that point on, a breakup, a role change, and finally, a balance occurred. Up until it was officially eight months in their relationship, Avery would try to the best of his ability to please and surprise Michelle. He would pick her up for school in the morning a little earlier. He went to her window at night with food that she liked. One time, she was involved in a car accident. Avery did not know if she was all right, but knew she was home.

He left his house at 12: 30 in the morning to wait by her window and see if she was OK. He was there until eight O clock when she woke up. Another time, Michelle was mad at Avery for something he did not do and he took the blame. To make it up to her, he planned a special candlelight dinner on his dock with her favorite cereal, Apple Jacks. He would buy her a rose each week and bring her food every morning and any time she asked for it.

Michelle always expected this and took it for granted constantly. She never gave him any credit for all the nice things he did, yet Avery still tried harder to please her. Michelle saw this quiet, easy going person that she wanted control of. Therefore she continually took advantage of Avery.

Avery did not mind this so much because he was a generous person. He did not even let it bother him that Michelle never appreciated him. It was mainly things that she said and did to manipulate him and try to make Avery need her. On one occasion Michelle went out with one of her girlfriends to a party in the woods. There were fifteen drunk guys there and these two girls that were on their way to getting wasted. Upon complaint afterwards from Avery, Michelle went out again several nights later and did the same thing.

This hurt Avery immensely, especially after the second time. He did not know what could be happening to her or if she cheated on him. As if this was not enough, Michelle told him several nights later that she had better times with her friends than she did with Avery. This really pained Avery and he became angry with her. Michelle thought about it and said she was sorry for hurting Avery, but she meant what she said.

Michelle always complained to Avery about his passiveness. Avery was an easy going fellow and usually did not let anything bother him. Michelle would get mad if he was quiet or if he chose not to be intimate at times. A few times, she told him she would leave him if he didn t change. He always said he would change for her but never really did. Some time later, Michelle had planned a trip to Florida to visit her friend in the early summer.

She was to go down there and have fun with her friends. The night before she left, she told Avery that she might cheat on him in Florida if someone came along. She said that Avery was just someone temporary until she found someone better. She left and Avery tried to look past her stinging statements. When she returned, Avery forgot her words and was glad she was home. He had a college orientation a few days later.

When he came to this orientation, he was shocked at the number of attractive women who were very nice to him. He became attached to one girl in particular and kissed her. It was during this period that Avery realized that other girls would treat him better. He also realized that he did not need Michelle.

When he returned home, he gave Michelle one more chance. He hoped that she would not want him to change and that she would stop playing her games. She stayed the same. What was Avery to do but slowly move away from her while explaining things to her? He told Michelle all that she had done to him and how it was wrong. The tables started slowly changing as Michelle feared breaking up and became extremely nice to Avery.

He did not believe her and made sure she understood him by breaking up with her. Michelle called him every day and continually apologized to him. She feared losing him all along, even more so than Avery feared losing her. Avery was treating Michelle like trash at this point. He was playing mind games with her and trying to give her the same feelings that Michelle gave him. Then, right before he left for college, Avery took Michelle back.

He made sure she understood his actions and still was rude to her. It was a complete role reversal. After a few months, Avery began treating Michelle normally again. Now weary and still afraid, Michelle appreciated this greatly. The couple had finally reached a point that benefited both of them. Avery felt confident about the relationship and Michelle was thankful that she had the one she loved back like it should be.

Due to the constant mental abuse that Avery received, he became tired of his girlfriend, Michelle. He realized he could find someone that would appreciate him for who he was. His reaction caused them to break up. Michelle understood both what she had done and that she did not want to be without him.

She knew that she had walked on Avery just because he seemed vulnerable to her. Avery sought a form of redemption and treated her the same way she treated him. He knew he loved her and took her back in the middle of his revenge. When Avery started to treat her right again, he knew things would be fine from now on.
