Catcher in the rye: Catcher in the rye has been the subject of much debate as to whether it is a suitable book for adolescents to study... In my opinion it is very suitable for teens to read and learn and there is many reasons for that! ! ! I will start with the fact that Holden is not different than the average kid, well maybe he is more depressed and down on himself then average teens but the thing is he has good reasons to be! He lost his brother Allie whom he truly loves and cares for. any teen who loses someone close to them are ofcourse more depressed than others. I am not saying that the way Holden handled Allies death was the right way im just saying that some teens can relate to what he is going thru!
Some might say that this book could be a bad influence on the teens that are reading it because Holden doesnt even try to succeed in his school work, keeps on doing out of all kinds of different schools and trying to act older than his age by running away from school, drinking alcohol, smoking, and even paying for a prostitute yeah all this seems a very bad influence but later on in the book the teens who read it understand the consequences of such irresponsibility! ! Most of the event that happen in Holden's life people can relate too, for instance the problems with the parents, the fascination with pure things more likely to be young children, the journey of maturation, trying to act like an adult Im a sure that atleast one of these things a person can relate too! I think the fact that at the end of the book Holden ends up in a hospital just shows how much problems he had to deal with and that most of the things that happened to him depressed him more!
