... the process of improving own soul. Hinduism as a religion only gives directions how it is possible to achieve liberation. The rest depends on a believer. In conclusion, for Hindu the final and the concept of vital importance of being is liberation from the wheel of birth, death, and rebirth.

One can only get off the reincarnation merry-go-round by realizing that the idea of the arrogant and individual self is an illusion, and only the oneness of Brahman is real, which means that nothing in this world really matters. Hindu believes that there is no heaven; therefore, universal oneness would be only to lose own identity. Now let us look on Islam and its main concepts, including the concept of liberation. There are three main types of Muslims.

The mainstream traditionalists are the Sunni Muslims, who form approximately 90 % of all Muslim believers. Therefore, since it is a major Muslim stream it will be appropriate do view their concepts in the reference to general concepts of Islam. Muslims believe in Muhammad, who was the prophet of Allah. Muhammad was visited by angel Jibreel and was given the duty to covert the population of his country from their pagan beliefs. Muslims use two main texts: Koran and Hadith. In Koran, the words of god are written and in Hadith are the Muhammad's words.

Muslims have five duties, which are also called as Five Pillars of Islam. The first duty is to perform the shahada h at least one time in a life. The second one is to perform a prayer five times a day. It is called salah. The third duty is to donate 2. 5 % charity tax, which will go to poor. It is called zakat.

The forth one is to fast during the month of Ramadan. Finally, the fifth one is to visit Mecca at least once in a lifetime, certainly if it is possible due to physical and financial ability. In Koran God has made an agreement with the words of the Prophet Muhammad. His teachings are available in the form of Hadith. God stated that Muhammad is serving to all the believers. There are also Six Articles of Faith, which should be followed by all the Muslims.

First, one is that there is not God but Allah. Second is about the hierarchy of angels, where archangel Gabriel is the highest. The lowest in the hierarchy of angels is a jinni that is the Muslim version of demon. Each Muslim should record his bad or good actions to two angels.

The third article is the belief in four holy books, where the Koran is final revelation. The fourth one is to believe in all the prophets of Muhammad. Koran says that God sent a prophet to each nation in order to preach his message about one God. It also states that Jesus was one of these prophets. Muhammad is considered to be the prophet for all times and the Seal of the Prophets. The fifth Article of Faith is quite interesting.

It is the belief in predestination. It is the faith that all good and evil things that happen because of the will of Allah. Therefore, Islam is quite fatalistic religion. The sixth Article is about the Day of Judgment. During this Day, all the deeds of a person will be weighted and if all the good actions of a person will prevail over the bad actions then a person will go to Paradise. If the bad actions will prevail, then a person will be sentenced to go to hell.

Islam is primarily the religion of human works. For instance, in the Bible it is written that an individual will not earn Gods acceptance ton the basis of his or her deeds. In Holy Koran God teaches people that they were created in order to worship Him. The basis of the true worship is the consciousness of God.

The teachings of Islam navigate a person in all the situations and aspects of life; therefore, consciousness of God is encouraged in all human affairs. Islam says that all the human actions should be aimed to worship God in accordance to His Divine Law. For this reason, Islam is not limited only to religious rituals. The teachings of Islam are supposed to act as a mercy of God, which will heal a human soul.

Islam encourages such positive qualities as sincerity, humility, charity, and patience. In addition, Islam condemns pride and self-righteousness, because God is the only one, who can judge righteousness. The way of life of a Muslim is originally established in such a way, when a believer has a healthy fear of Allah, because the life without fear of God will definitely lead towards sin and disobedience. Besides, Koran teaches a lot about the life hereafter and about the Day of Judgment.

For this reason, it is believed that only God will judge about the beliefs, good and bad actions of a person starting from the lives at earth. God will be Just and Merciful in judging a Muslim. The primary path to salvation centers on submission to Allah, submission to the Koran, and submission to the Five Pillars of Islam. Adherence to the teachings of all the prophets of Allah is a major expectation in Islam. One extra-biblical person considered a prophet is Alexander the Great. Mohammed is presented as the final prophet, surpassing all others in greatness.

Gods prophetic spokesmen are honored, but none are considered divine. An interesting offshoot of Islam is Sufism. This is the esoteric branch of Islam. For most Muslims, Allah is so far above this material world that, to finite men, he is incomprehensible and unattainable. Sufis, on the other hand, claim mystical experiences with God are available through meditation and a whirling kind of dance that brings on an ecstatic experience. Islam teaches that life is only a test.

The life hereafter is the main purpose that leads the believers to obey all required moral principles. Otherwise, life would be viewed as the single mission, which will eventually cause human beings to be immoral, selfish, and to commit sins. For this reason, salvation or liberation for a Muslim is viewed as making an effort and making sure that all the events will go in the way of Allah, which will result into following of all the rules of Islam. Jihad is a holy war the meaning of which is to make an effort to achieve Allahs mercy. Islam teaches that all the people are sinners (Koran 16, 61) and that salvation can be obtained only through observing the Five Pillars. By performing these works, the Muslim hopes that at the Day of Judgment, his good deeds will exceed the bad ones, and so he will reach the paradise of material and sensual delights (56, 16 - 41).

One also has to have faith in Allah and believe that salvation is by his grace and mercy. Yet, despite all deeds, Allah reserves the absolute right to send the deceased to wherever he pleases paradise or hell. Those who do not conform their lives to the demands of Islam will surely be thrown into hell, a place of extreme physical pain (56, 42 - 45; 94 - 95). The ways of obtaining liberation in these two religions are very different.

In Hinduism, it is very important to acquire knowledge and to have mastery over the senses. A person, who possesses this knowledge, can reach nirvana. Therefore, it is clear that the differences between Hinduism and Islam are mainly in the perception of the life afterward and in the ways of reaching this afterward life. In case of Islam, it is Paradise, while for Hindu it is reincarnation.

Hinduism is very different religion from Islam. Islam may seem quite similar to Christianity in the means of the reaching Paradise, but still there are some important differences. I found it quite interesting to look through the main points of each religion. However, there are some issues where there is a great distance in the perception of the world by those two religions.

I understand that they are different in their means and in their explanation of life and of the lifes purposes. For instance, it is quite important for a Muslim to obey all the Gods teachings in every area of life. If a Muslim has done, all this he or she will go to paradise. Nevertheless, for the Hindu it is not that necessary to follow all the instalments of God. It is much more vital to have a right perception of the world and absolutely understand your place in it. Hinduism is suitably understandable from the viewpoint of Indian philosophy, however for a western person it is quite hard to get in depth of all the processes.

Hinduism is more individualistic religion than Islam is. Hindu should manly follow the general rules but still should first practice to change the perception of the world and life. Besides, there are several ways to salvation available and a certain type of individual can use each. The Hindu approach is indeed deeply philosophic.

Hinduism tries to get in depth of human soul, which is the main object for liberation. Muslim in contrast should just strictly follow all the writings and live according to Five Pillars of Islam. For a Muslim there is only one way to salvation. Islam is not like Hinduism accents on the meaning of soul, but mainly is interested in obeying the set of rules. Human soul in Islam is primarily viewed as source of evil.

The ideas of liberation in these two religions are different, both in essence and in the way of reaching the liberation. I consider Hindu approach to be more creative and more interesting in explaining human nature in depth. Islam is more primitive, because it relies on the rules and limitations. The concept of liberation (heaven) is quite simple if to compare to Hinduism, where it is even hard to imagine what how does it feel to loose own identity. Taking into account that Hinduism is the oldest religion in the world and that it is at least twice as old as Islam, it is possible to see how were changing philosophies over the time.

It is possible to notice a pattern, where the older religions are more difficult to understand and to eventually find some evidence supporting the key points.
