John Lennon October 9, 1940 marked the date the remarkable John Lennon was born. John was born and raised in Liverpool, England. Lennon did not have an easy childhood at all, he was left by his father and mother at a young age. Out of true kindness, his Aunt Mimi Smith took him in and supported him. She was a middle classed woman who also lived in Liverpool.

John had a rebellious character and disliked the school system in Liverpool. He was quickly labeled a troublemaker and his only salvation was Rock n Roll. It would be hard to imagine the kind of life John had when he was child. With both parents gone at such a young age, he felt very neglected. This strongly accounts for his rebellious behavior and may have possibly been the reason why he became such a great rock star. At the age of 16, John formed his first band called the Quarrymen who were very talented.

In 1957, Paul McCartney attended a show at a local party and was impressed by Lennon's amazing skills. Paul proposed to join the band as lead guitarist and since he was the only one who could properly tune a guitar and had extensive knowledge of music, John accepted the offer. Later a school friend of Pauls, George Harrison, joined the band along with Pete Best, who was later replaced at the brink of their success. At first the band was called the QuarryMen, then the Silver Beatles, then just the Beatles. Johns success was on its way and his life began to truly take off. John Lennon and the Beatles played a very large part in revolutionizing the Rock n Roll era.

They produced music which had the power to grab the attention of millions and millions of people in England and North America. Their careers quickly left England and stepped to the next level when it came to the United States. Most bands produced one or two hits in a album however the aspect which made the Beatles so remarkable was that almost every song the Beatles made was a hit. John Lennon and Paul McCartney were the ones writing the majority of the songs.

Those two musicians together were able to create music many bands could never achieve. During the Beatles era, Rock n Roll was a relatively new phenomena. Started out by the greats like BB King and Elvis Presley, it was strongly propelled by John Lennon and the rest of the Beatles. With song after song number one on the charts, teenagers looked up to these men as mentors. They made Rock n Roll spread to millions of households across the continent. To say the Beatles actually strengthened Rock N Roll is difficult to determine, however it is quite obvious that they started a new era of Rock and made strong contributions.

The Beatles can easily be compared to a group today like the Backstreet Boys. They started a new generation of music. Like the Backstreet Boys, The Beatles triggered spin off bands to start playing similar music to them. Like NSync, Five and 98 Degrees are similar to the Backstreet Boys, bands such as the Monkees, Modern English and Madness were similar to the Beatles. John Lennon led the Beatles and the music industry into a new era of Rock N Roll and was very prosperous at that. Although there are still mysteries on why and for what reason John Lennon was murdered, there are many facts to look at regarding the issue.

After looking at these facts and reporting, it is possible to determine whether the theories are valid. By doing this, it may be possible to avoid such a situation in the future, without losing a well-respected legacy of music. Not only did John Lennon have an effect on the music industry of the 1960 's but he also had an effect on the society itself. John integrated the themes of love and peace into the music he created and produced. He was a very loving man and believed strongly in world peace. Since his music was listened to by millions of people, his messages had influences on their perception of life.

Not only was he listened to through his music but since he was such a respected man, when John spoke, people listened. Some saw him as a genius and some saw him as crazy, however John saw himself as a normal person with different views. Am I crazy or am I a genius? I dont think Im either. John taught people to love, to respect, to strive for peace and to accept themselves for who they are. His songs sent these messages and so did his words to the press.

Johns messages traveled far with the American and British people. Even today they linger around and have influence on the minds of many. John Lennon had a life of fame and a life of love. His life of fame took off with the formation of the Beatles. A small time Rock group in England soon became a number one group across all of North America. The Beatles were defiantly known by all of North America and Great Britain and probably known in many other parts of the world.

The whole group, especially John becomes very wealthy and respected. Many people began to admire the Beatles because of their success. Personal wealth and success are not the true reason John is an admirable person. The true reason John is admirable is that he was a man with wisdom in life and love.

On his second marriage, John seemed like he truly fell in love. Id never met a woman I considered as intelligent as me. That sounds big-headed, but every woman I met was either a dolly-chick, or a sort of screwed-up intellectual chick. And of course, in the field I was in, I didnt meet many intellectual people anyway.

I always had this dream of meeting an artist, an artist girl who would be like me. And I thought it was a myth, but then I met Yoko and that was it. Johns wife Yoko satisfied his physical and mental needs. This is something many people do not have in a marriage. John had a successful career, a wonderful marriage and even more importantly, John contained a wisdom and intelligence which should be strived for. He was amazingly gifted in his works and was able to write poems and music remarkably.

He had a strong grasp on life and had an understanding of himself. He had confidence in himself, although he kept a balance between confidence and ego. If being an egomaniac means I believe in what I do and in my art or my music, then in that respect you can call me that... I believe in what I do, and Ill say it. (Stacey's Beatles Page). He had control of his career, his life, his marriage and ultimately himself, and this is why John Lennon is to be so greatly admired.

Analyzing John Lennon's life provides good lessons for youth today. His understanding of life, love and success can guide people through their lives. On the life perspective, John knew himself and told people to find their true selves. He preached of wisdom and education and also believed in the advancement of a person. Every person on this planet should work to advance themselves. John did it and people should strive to do it as well as him if not better.

Also, Johns love life was an outstanding one. He never said anything about looks in his talks about his wife Yoko. His only mention was how they were soul mates for each other. This is very important and should be mimicked because looks do not last.

Good looks will come and go but people meant for each other are genuine. John and Yoko were genuine and he even talked about how to strengthen that bond and make it work. Love is the flower youve got to let it grow. Lastly, John modeled how to be successful yet still keep a straight mind about it.

Many people who are rushed with success loose their minds in it and get so caught up, they do not realize their actions. John avoided this and kept confidence without becoming egotistical. He was easily among the top musicians of the 20 th century and knew this, yet he did not allow this to go to his head. John gave guidance through his music and his speeches. He told people how he lived and even provided his insights on how they should live.

He was a mentor to many because of the guidance he gave. Almost every song he ever wrote had a message for his listeners. If this was not true about him he would not be as great as he was. John was a great man and examining and learning from him can only help better a person.

John Lennon was a true hero to the people of his time. He wrote music ingeniously, and promoted themes of love and world peace to all. This was all done through all the music and speeches he made. These were noble actions but this is not why he is considered a hero. John Lennon is a hero because not only did he proclaim his themes of love and peace but he stood up for them. John was not afraid to say something which would upset people, or present an idea which contradicted the common way of thinking.

This is very rare for a man in the entertainment industry because usually they do anything to please the audience. The amazing thing about John was he did what he thought was right no matter the consequences, and amazingly the audience loved and hated him for it. John Lennon was a great musician, a great husband, a great mentor, a great hero however most importantly, a great man. His words, actions and morals lead him to his amazing success. He was considered one of the most talented musicians of all time and made great accomplishments in the music industry. He made great accomplishments in his personal life and in his life viewed by society.

He said things which will linger in the minds of people for years to come. On December 8, 1980, the physical body of John Lennon perished, however the values and memories of this man will live on for many years to come. Bibliography: Alice, Don. Once a man, Twice a child.
