Ukraine is a country situated in the geographical center of Europe, with great fertile soil and a great potential, but at all that it is still unknown. While taking my interview, I got to know that when a student from Ukraine came to Great Britain and was asked to tell British students about his country, he asked, if they knew what it was. The class kept silence, one student said that it ought to be a street in London and the other said: Oh my God, Chernobyl! and it is a dreadful stereotype this country is known for its ancient customs and traditions, melodic language and many-many other things ordinary people do not see and do no know. While interviewing Vary, a representative of the Ukrainian culture, I found out that social and economic life in Ukraine is not an easy one. The fact is that Ukrainians do receive social payments as scholarships, pensions, unemployment money, etc, but the amount of money paid is really not enough and a great lot of people have to tighten their belts and live on the breadline.

Secondly, there is a clear difference between social classes. People become possessive creatures who want to obtain various status symbols: unnecessarily fast cars, stereo systems, luxurious houses, etc. they say, it looks especially unfair when other people go bagging money in the streets, living under parked cars and actually having no normal life. It turned out that almost half of the population of Ukraine lives on the breadline partly because of law salaries, partly because of high taxes. It is very difficult for Ukrainian people to survive, although the new government changed a situation for the better a little bit and the Ukrainians keep hoping that the situation will take a turn for the better. Ukrainian people also try to do their best to improve their lives they work really hard and a few month ago they struggled for their rights in the Orange Revolution, which really made it better for the majority of them.

They say that there is a stereotype about all the Ukrainians they eat fat, drink vodka and dance gopak. Actually, this point of view is a bit out-of-date. Ukrainians are quite modern people and they live almost the same life as people in the majority of countries. Maybe their life is a bit more difficult, but all in all it is the same. The lifestyle of Ukrainians differs from one region to another and from one social group to another. Some regions of this country do agriculture as far as Ukraine possesses extremely fertile soil and is an agricultural country actually.

All in all, the Ukrainian lifestyle is very active as far as they are always on the go. They are very funny and hilarious they have a good sense of humor and can laugh at themselves. To my mind this is a very good quality humorous people live longer and happier lives. They take life easy and I think this is a rather approach.

In addition, Ukrainians are very hospitable they like having guests and they like making them fell at home, entertain them. They really like cooking their cuisine is very specific and very tasty. They really enjoy eating dumplings with cheese, cherry or potato, mashed potato, borsch, golub tsi. They are a very interesting nation their lifestyle changes from work to leisure very often. They for a long time but after that they often have long vacations. They also live a very active cultural life they usually go to cinemas and theatres, read books and listen to music.

As to their family values, they consider them to be very democratic, although in the majority of cases father wears the trousers and appears to be the breadwinner in the family. Women are very rarely housewives they usually have their own jobs and earn money on their own. Therefore, they are almost independent from their husbands. Children in families are almost under total control of their parents they have to obey and follow their demands and advice. However, the Ukrainians rarely bit their children they prefer the democratic way of educating. Children have to honor their parents they have almost no desire to be opposed to the m or to contradict them - they love their parents and have great respect for them, they consider what they say to be right to.

Children are usually brought up in the atmosphere of love and mutual understanding. However, the Ukrainian children in the majority of cases study on their own mistakes. that is their parent try not to forbade them to do something they let them do that, but make it so that they carry out useful conclusions from their deeds. They also give great significance to family holidays. It is almost a must for almost all members of the family to gather together to celebrate Christmas, Easter, New Years Day and many other family holidays, which collect all the relatives around the table, giving them a possibility to share their good and bad moments, problems and happiness with their family. Ukrainians are Orthodox.

They get christened when they are born in the majority of cases and wear small crosses on their necks. They usually go to church on religious holidays. However, some people go there more often. Although, the Ukrainians are no only orthodox there are many other religions and branches out there. The Ukrainians are usually comparatively healthy, irrespectively of the Chernobyl tragedy.

However, they get cured if they are ill. Older people prefer homeopathy. They want to cure and be cured with traditional methods. However, they do have hospitals where people are cured from various diseases for free. Actually, their medicine is almost the same as ours, but they have more folk methods in it they use teas, plants and so on. The Ukrainians are also very adaptive they can get used to almost any conditions, that is why they do not need any special treatment.

All in all, the Ukrainians are a great nation and they are very interesting to get to know and to communicate with. They have a very interesting lifestyle, they take life easy, they are always on the go, they are hospitable they are worth to be interviewed and studied.
