Interactions Between Men and Women at Workplace The present paper is devoted to the discussion of the problems between men and women and their relations at workplace. For a long time this topic has been the subject if active discussion and this work will look at the problems in men and women's relations at work from the two different viewpoints the viewpoint of romance at work and the viewpoint of women achieving better success than men, based on the two articles from Internet resources. The issue of romance at workplace has been discussed from different points of view, and in her article Denise Kersten notes that romance at work is activated by the fact, that people have more opportunities to know each other well, as they constantly communicate and interact during the work day. It is easier to start relations at work, than for example, in the bar, when you get acquainted to an absolutely unknown person. From another point of view, people who work together during long hours, not only get to know each other better, but also lose their chances of meeting anyone else somewhere else.

According to Kersten's statistics, about half of workers have an experience in workplace romance, and 'many more would like to find amour in a neighboring cubicle'. (Kersten 2004) The problem of romantic men and women's interactions at work might be displayed through the fact, that the mildest consequences of such relations will lead to marriage (which is rarely so) or, which is more probable, to the spoiled reputation and the necessity to look for another workplace. One more problem is that each specific company might have some policies of dating, and making relations well known to other workers may also lead to the morale decrease among the staff. Romance at workplace presents one of the essential parts of interactions between men and women at work, and it is natural between different genders to look at each other as a potential sexual object. Work conditions set favorable conditions for the development of such relations, but it is necessary and important to weight all 'pro' and 'against' in relation to the object of romance in comparison to the potential outcomes of such relations. One more side of gender interactions at workplace is in striving of both men and women for taking top positions in management.

The research of Management Issues (2006) states that there still exists the so called 'Glass ceiling' for women who strive to reaching top positions in management. According to the article, the research has been held among 1, 000 respondents in Europe, and it has been discovered, that among different European cultures the stereotypes are similar women are supposed to be better 'in care' and men are supposed to 'be better in charge', despite the objective truth that leadership characteristics of both men and women are similar. It is even more interesting that both men and women perceive women to be better in caretaking responsibilities, and men being better in 'male taking charge skills such as influencing superiors and delegating responsibility'. (Management Issues, 2006) The research has shown that stereotyping has no borders and if a woman is supposed to be effective in problem-solving, she is likely to be ineffective in inspiring her team, which is considered to be the most valued managerial feature. These stereotypes are not applicable to men, as managerial roles in the society are often viewed as masculine, aggressive and achievement oriented, that's why it is often that the striving for better managerial position is often viewed more positively for men and less positively for women. The main issue of the research was that global companies must take into account cross cultural differences and the displayed stereotypes in building the managerial strategy. The stereotypes, which exist in society, make the glass ceiling for women thicker, and thus pose more conflicts and difficulties in their interactions with men at workplace.

It is important to remember that if any company wants to achieve success on the global market, it should put the talents, and not the gender, on the forefront of its strategy, and thus any stereotypes in relation to men and women's interactions at work are inappropriate.
