... large degree lately. It is no more a villain with a bloody knife in his hand that represents the ultimate menace to us, but a faceless bureaucrat with a pen and suitcase, which has an immense power over peoples lives. In democratic societies there is a danger of governments being alienated from those who had elected them, over an increased anonymity of how decisions are made that affect people. We talk of a social machine that we associate with the ultimate evil in modern times. If even twenty years ago, the heroic character would inevitably prevail against the odds, in the end, nowadays we see him to most likely end up in jail, although public sympathies would still be with him.

We take money from rich people with our guns rich people take houses from poor with their pens said Clyde to Bonnie once. The totalitarianism is still alive, although it tries to appear as something different from what it really is. But once we see that the concept of uniformity is being promoted, which denies peoples natural instincts, we should know that we deal with totalitarianism and there is nothing good can ever come out, as a result of it. George Orwell's Anti-Sex League exists now under disguise of various politically correct groups that promote sexual uniformity and banning of sexual words.

Tomorrow they will dictate us how to behave in forceful manner, by making changes to criminal code. (2) Ray Bradbury's The Affluence of Despair is about the negative influence of Medias on people's existential mode. Author is rightfully suggests that American media contribute to the dampening of American people, by encouraging them to use labeling to describe the essence of socio-political events, instead of using an analytical approach. We do not go to the theater, we are the theater. We have invaded the TV studios and run the country to mania on talking-head shows. We display our brilliance on "Jeopardy, " forgetting that its factoids are 90 % useless once you kill the set. We don't ask who Napoleon was but where he was buried.

Or why he invaded Russia, but when - says Bradbury and we can only agree with him. Americans are being taught not to examine the reality on their own, but simply to use pre-meditated descriptions to make its way through it. It cannot escape one's attention that the destructive social trends in today's America appear to be well orchestrated. The influence of medias on people's minds is just one of the factors that suppose to make ideological brainwashing more efficient. This is why we are taught to think of conspiracy theories as the creations of lunatics and to simply reject them out of hand. There is undeniable trend to attach a negative emotional attributes to the White culture, as oppressive and racially biased, on the parts of Liberal medias, while promoting the notion of thousands years of African history, even though Africans did not have history, before being colonized by the Europeans.

The movie industry makes especially large contribution towards secularizing the American society along the racial and cultural lines. The political observers notice that the popular notion of angry white male will be soon accompanied by the concept of angry white female. As a rule, Black women are described by the media as the victims of unjust social realities. They are shown as highly spiritual beings that are in touch with expressions of nature.

The movie Beloved is a good example Oprah Winfrie plays the role of honest and loving Black woman, while in real life she is greedy and vicious TV host. In movie Maid in Manhattan the White English woman is shown as an embodiment of evil, while Mexican American Jennifer Lopez is a modern days Cinderella. The same applies to the portrayal of Asian females they are generally represented as more decent and compassionate than the White. Bradbury says that medias benefits on increasing the level of depression among people: Remember the Alar-poisoned apples that the dinner time newsbytes claimed would destroy us, so they destroyed some part of the apple industry? Recall the poison cellar gas rising to asphyxiate your kids?

Or those arsenic Peruvian grapes promising to strip our gears? Or the Three Mile Island nuclear meltdown where nothing melted, no injuries, no deaths? Panic for two weeks, make it three. Ratings up. Morale down (Bradbury). In a way, we can think of American medias as an enormous spiritual monster, which sucks the life force out of ordinary people, while substituting it with a cheap entertainment.

The last century, before the downfall of Roman Empire, was signified with staging huge gladiators shows in Coliseum, by the emperors who sought public support. The only way to attract marginalized population to these shows, at the time, was making them more shocking and graphic. Only a direct onslaught on peoples senses could vitalize them for a while When people do not care about anything but the intensity their anomalistic feelings, it means that they slowly degrade. Bradbury sees it happening in today's America. But I think that his analysis is one sided, as he seems to think of the medias as the sole reason for American society being increasingly corrupted. This, of course, is not the truth.

As a matter of fact, medias only correspond to people's inner desires. It is the decreased biological quality of the people that is the root of the problem. The unprecedented campaign to promote racial mixing, disguised as celebrating of diversity, will inevitably result in people's decreased ability to think logically, since it is well known that diversified' people have difficulties, grasping the essence of abstract categories. This, in its turn, makes people more susceptible to a brainwashing, thus turning the American society into the herd, which can be easily led to the slaughter, if necessary... Author's advice of how to deal with destructive influence of medias is rather naive: We have condemned ourselves. Now we must save ourselves.

No one else can. Shut off the set. Write your local TV news people. Tell them to go to hell. Go sit on the lawn with friends (Bradbury).

We can think of it as the admission of helplessness from the person who sees that there is something wrong with the reality, but who does not know what can really be done to correct the situation. The answer lies in the fields of politics. The spiritual poison of Liberalism must be eliminated by removing those who promote it from the public offices. The healthy elements of our society must take control. As practice shows, only the drastic solutions work. (3) Robert Bly's A Little Book on the Human Shadow consists of essays, united by author's nonacceptance of the fact that American society is becoming overly feminized. The masculine traits of one's character, such as courage, adventurism, resourcefulness, ability to think logically and to make rational decisions, are now being repressed by an enforced standards of social behaviour, designed by Liberals.

Young boys are being taught to be ashamed of their natural aggressiveness. They are being brainwashed with the idea that their true destiny is to be a good husband, who lives exclusively for the sake of his wife and kids. This causes males, who really believe in political correctness, to become emotionally unstable, as the instincts that define their true nature are being constantly suppressed. It is the hidden desires of man's heart that Bly refers to as shadows. These shadows make males to suspect, throughout their lives, that their true calling is to conquer the kingdoms, to defend helpless or to overthrow the governments, instead of of routinely performing their job and family duties. Bly is absolutely right when he says: We spend our life until we " re twenty deciding what parts of ourselves to put in the bag, and the rest of our lives trying to get them out again (Bly, p. 30).

This is the result of what Bly calls an enforced feminization. The males that are subjected to it are much more demanding, when it comes to surrounding themselves with domestic comfort, yet they are not into applying much effort to accomplish it, since they are more mentally dependent on the social institutions. Feminized males are more susceptible to the dubious pleasures of instant gratification, which is provided by the credit cards. They are less dependable and increasingly rely on some higher authority to make decisions for them. Author compares a contemporary male to a caged lion, who will not look straight in the eyes of those that challenge him. It is only criminals and mercenaries that correspond nowadays to the classical concept of male a strong and dangerous individual.

Bly suggests that every male carries a subconscious desire to dominate the surrounding reality. Throughout the history, only the worthiest men were able to fulfill such desire. It enabled our civilization to progress. But now, an average male has more chances to succeed in life because of his mediocrity, rather than his outstanding personal qualities. Even as recent as 100 years ago, the internal and foreign policies of every country used to be the reflections of its ruler's personality. Now, the countries are run by the mediocre men, who wear the same grey suits, as if they wanted to emphasize it.

The ideal man isn't harmless, he is dangerous, but kind says Bly. We can only agree with him that the American society is corrupted by the pinkish softness, which often adopts the form of political theories. But, in my opinion, it is not enough to remain defensive, when it comes to dealing with women, who want to regulate mens' lives. The feminists of all sorts and Liberal promoters of homosexuality, which strive to design America's social policies, simply need to be brought to the place where they really belong the mental institution. In his book, Bly tries to avoid talking about politics. His criticism of feminization of society has rather poetical properties.

Nevertheless, it did not prevent the self-appointed protectors of public morality from accusing him of sexism and racism. But the cheer absurdity of such accusations becomes obvious to everyone who read Bly's book. In my opinion, after American socio-political policies are being brought back to sanity, A Little Book on the Human Shadow will become one of the classics of American literature.
