The American Revolution commenced in 1775 and conditionally ended in 1789 with the ratification of the Constitution of Independent USA. Thirteen colonies of Great Britain at American lands suffered from tight pressure from the side of English enslaver's, revealing itself in hard economical and labor conditions, high taxes and duties, slavery and limitations of rights. As a response on these increasing demands from the people, protests and rebel acts against the imperial power began taking place, which soon turned into a war. Independence War in Northern America was a part of revolutionary movement and had two main goals: (1) to receive national independence and destroy the obstacles for American economy to develop, to improve the living conditions for the masses, and (2) to solve agrarian problem, including destroying of feudal elements in agriculture, to open the access to the Western Lands and to destroy slavery. So, initially and essentially the Revolution was an economic one. The War of American colonies of England for independence has destroyed the main obstacles for independent development of economy: colonial repressions and domination of English landowning aristocracy.

Squireship and engine estates were abolished; large estates and latifundium were confiscated from establishment loyalists (the Tories), as a result of War and the Revolution all the attempts of English dominator's to proceed with feudal administration of the country were ruined. The victory of Northern American nation was an important step on the way to progress and development, it brought to gaining of political and economical independence and enhancing of the territory. As a result of the victory of colonies and ratification of the Constitution, a new large independent state was established. The American Revolution is supposed to be the first democratic revolution in the history. Farmers, workers and small merchants, laboring people of one sort or another were the main moving power of the American Revolution, the role of who was dominant and important in patriotic rise of the Americans during the War, in creating of local militia army in New England and Western Virginia.

The masses became the base of partisan army, which had been successfully fighting with English oppressors; it was their victory in proclaiming of republican formation, limitation and prohibition of slavery in the North, ratification of democratic Bill on rights in 1791. But in the end, the victory of American Independence only partially realized the aspirations of such laboring masses. Because of spontaneity and disorderliness of the masses, because of rejection and non-support of revolutionary ideas by people of some localities, especially in the middle colonies and, thus, separation of flows of national patriotic movement, the leading role in coordinating of the war and creation of a new government of the USA belonged to the Congress, which consisted of wealthy landowners and new aristocracy, who exercised sovereign powers. Thats why large land property was not prohibited, in the West the majority of lands was expropriated by revolutionary government, but again given to powerful rich land profiteers and speculators. There were land plots, given to squatters and farmers as plough-lands, but those remained strictly controlled and limited. Moreover, in Southern states slavery still took place and was legitimated together with plantations land property.

During the Revolution, the Americans continued to hesitate whether slavery was consistent with a democratic revolution. Northern states adopted manumission (liberation of a slave with compensation to the owner) and other measures over a generation that put slavery into what Lincoln would call the course of ultimate extinction. Southern states had much more harder conditions of dealing with the point, and eventually gave up. But such consequences of revolutionary changes are traditional, there are almost no examples in the whole history of a case, when interests of all poor and enslaved people are recovered and protected completely as a result of a revolutionary upheaval. Any sort of revolution, ideologists of which hope to bring it to the success, must understand all positive and critical moments of their revolution. On the one hand, the Americans believed that they had started a revolution to establish and protect constitutional principles that had been forming in their minds while America had being corrupted in Great Britain.

On the other hand, they recognized the importance and necessity of justifiable administration. Indeed, the point of the Americans' constitutional conflict with Great Britain was that they were protecting legitimate administration, in correlation to their own perception of what the unrecorded British constitution could be like. In their point of view, no government that exercises power without legitimacy could have such authority. Recently specialists started to assume that the American Revolutionary War was a complex event and contained many different wars. At first, it was a war for national independence, at second, it was a civil war, because rather than a movement integrated to fight against the British, Americans were divided over many ideological and economic issues, especially in the South. These conflicts American against American were frequently very violent and cruel.

Also, the American Revolution was a world war; historians underline the importance of the direct intervention and aid of some European countries, as France, Spain, which were given to the Americans for their victory over the British Monarchy. At the end, the American Revolution was a war of ideas. Following their ideas and principles proclaimed by the Declaration of Independence, the Americans set off a fight to protect the absolute rights of man to life, freedom, happiness, and to make the ideology that all men were meant to be equal in rights come true. The prelude for this ideology was John Locke's theory of Social Contract which claimed that the authority of a government to rule came from a social contract which was made between all members of society when that society was primarily established.

The individual members of that society agreed to allocate certain powers to the government, and to abide by its laws and regulations, if in return, the government used these powers in the interest of all of its citizens. If these powers were abused, then the social contract would no longer be valid, and the people would no longer be obliged to obey the government. This theory was particularly attractive to the American people, the majority of whom felt that they were being dictated to and exploited by a tyrannical government with absolute, unlimited power. They believed that the authority and legitimacy of governments had to come from the people, that the powers that were granted to the government had to be restricted, and that because the British government was exercising absolute control, that they retained the right to rebel and overthrow the government. To begin a revolution and a war for political values was a new experience in the world for those times.

The accent of the American Revolution on self-governing and the right of changes was an ultimate challenge to the existing order that would not take place unnoticed. There is a great deal of discussions and such sort of theories was risen about the meaning and ideology of the American Revolution, about its effectiveness, social and historical meaning, about the role of the very war in it. Crane Brinton in his book shows the main three phases of the American Revolution: the symptoms (economical and political problems together with ideological rise), the fight and movement (the war itself) and the results (capturing of the power by moderators of the revolution). Brinton believes that the War affected on the consequences of the Revolution very much, it made moral of people down and caused much of violence and crimes.

Sociological expert The Skocpol analyzes social effect of the Revolution, she speculates about voluntarism of the Revolution. From the examples of other historical revolutions its known that often many ideological groups want to come to power, but in result only one does. To prove that the American Revolution was a real revolution, sociologist Martin List compares it with French revolution, he underlines that exactly revolution in America had a huge influence on succeeding radical events in France. John C.

Miller, a famous American historian, underlines some definite aspects that had brought to the successful results of the American Revolution. According to him, during the times of British repressions, the Americans got strength and power to fight; they had been maintaining the ideology of individual freedom and rights, and they reached a superior degree in economic and social egalitarianism. Some historians support the idea that the American Revolution was straightforwardly directed against feudalism, mercantilism and imperialistic influence of the whole Europe, not just the British Crown. The majority of theories created when exploring of the phenomenon of the American Revolution assume it to be a real revolution. It was much more than just a movement of protest and rebellion, it resulted with the establishing of a new state and with constructive changes in almost all spheres of political, economical and public life of Americans.

This Revolution had many classical features, which are similar for all the revolutions in history of the world (like complete changing of the government and its administrative policy), but at the same time it was unique in its nature. When talking about the American Revolution we do not have to confuse it with the Independence War itself, though the meaning and the results of the latter are integrally connected with the revolutionary consequences of the fight for liberty. The War played an important role in the whole revolutionary strategy, it became the main instrument of the Revolution; it was the way to receive freedom from oppressors, to make outstanding social changes and upturns, the way to establish a democratic republic on the ruins of monarchy. And the significant point is that the American Revolution was undoubtedly successful in accomplishing of its ideological mission.
