On the Aesthetic Education of Man Friedrich Schiller wrote an interesting book called On the Aesthetic Education of Man. In this book he defines patterns of beauty and art and also he is trying to integrate the patterns of beauty into the educational process of humans. This is a philosophical approach that he is trying to implement in evaluating the concepts concerning the issue of aesthetic education of man. Beauty is the concept that always bring positive emotions according to the philosopher. He also brings the notion of beauty being integrated within the aesthetic concepts: The mind is determined, in as much as it is only limited; but it is also determined because it limits itself of its own absolute capacity. It is situated in the former position when it feels, in the second when it thinks.

Accordingly the aesthetic constitution is in relation to determinable ness what thought is in relation to determination. The latter is a negative from internal infinite completeness, the former a limitation from internal infinite power. (108) Consequently the author is bringing the notion of determination in order to better understand what is beauty and how is it related to the aesthetic education. n the Aesthetic Education f Man, with which Schiller under t further investigate the relationship between the beautiful and art, pens with a political analysis f contemporary society and in particular f the French Revolution and its failure t implement universal free. Since human beings can nt rise are the fetters f their time with education, and since the means f education can be art and art nly, Schiller concedes that beauty must precede free. He conceives f art therefore as a vehicle, ne that ver time will improve humankind and set the individual free frm the constraints and excesses f either pure nature r pure mind. The function f art must be t educate and elevate the human race toward this new and ideal, if in essence unattainable, position, ne in which human beings, through aesthetic experience, have reconciled the antagonism within themselves between sense and intellect, nature and read.

It is therefore not only a poetical license, but also philosophically correct, when beauty is named our second creator. Nor is this inconsistent with the fact the she only makes it possible for us to attain and realise humanity, leaving this to our free will. (177) Schiller's argument perate's simultaneously n at least tw distinct planes f thought, diachronic and synchronic; hence his continued and at times confusing scilla tin between positions and vocabulary. n the first plane Schiller constructs a philosophy f history in which humankind processes frm the physical through the aesthetic t the may. n the send plane the aesthetic is the medium in which the physical and the may are reconciled.

In bth mdel's the function f art is t educate human beings, t synthesize the conflicting natures within us, animal and spiritual, the material drive (Stfftrieb) and the format drive (Frmtrieb), change n the upside (Zust and) and continuity n the inside (Person), by means f a third drive, play (Spieltrieb), which merges the dualistic categories f material and frm, being and being, int living frm (legend Gestalt) - Schiller's ultimate definition f beauty. His treatise thus prefigures nt nly Hegel's concept f art as the idea rendered sensible (sinn liches Scheinen der Idee), his three styles f art (symbolic, classical, Romantic), and his triadic model f historical progress (thesis-antithesis-synthesis) but als Sigmund Freud's send typographical model f id, super, and their reconciliation in the eg. A lot of ink has been spilled trying to answer that question. The word aesthetics was not coined (and the discipline it names was not born) until the middle of the eighteenth century, but a fascination with beauty is perennial. From Plato on down, philosophers and artists and philosopher-artists have eulogized beauty as providing intimations of spiritual wholeness and lost unity. (181) Schiller also brings up the notion of taste that is very closely related to the notion of beauty and aesthetic education. According to Schiller taste can make difference in perception of beauty patterns and for various people this perception may vary accordingly.

Well, the question of taste can be counted on to generate many of those simple questions we cannot definitively answer but also cannot help asking. Consider the question, inevitable when we ponder the operation of taste, of why we care so much about art. (154) It is very important to understand these notions in order to have a clear vision of what the philosopher was trying to prove about the issue. He was making assumptions that aesthetic education is one of the most important to human. This is because this kind of growth is necessary for human maturity and to keep in mind the highest esteem values.

If to mention my personal aesthetic experience it is necessary to say that art plays a great role in it. For example works of various artists such as Picasso, Dali and others make my aesthetic views upon the issue. Beauty plays a great role in development of the aesthetic education of any particular person including myself. Women are actually very important factors of beauty. Woman expressions by various artists show off the beauty that human kind has. Women-god thing is mentioned in the work of Schiller and it explains why the women expressions play a great role in the concept of beauty.

This is because women are the actual representation of beauty whereas men usually represent other concepts such as strength and skills. According to natural laws there is a close connection between men and women. That connection can be seen in the relationships that men and women have. Sometimes this is called love and that definitely is a representation of aesthetic education.

Moral laws show off the significance of positive attitudes towards the relationships between people. This is no secret that beauty actually can be seen in any event or object if there is any. Therefore it is necessary to improve the overall human aesthetic education nowadays. There are not too many tools that are designed for that purpose recently. But this is actually very personal decision of whether or not to improve the aesthetic skills within oneself. Thus from the conceptual standpoint it is necessary to mention that art in any of its forms can be used for the task.

Also it is always better to find patterns of beauty in the staff that we are experiencing. Bibliography: Friedrich Schiller, On the Aesthetic Education of Man, Philadelphia: Knocks Press, 2 nd Edition, 1988
