Though there are a lot of different reasons for starting a war, the main one is always the same: re-allotment of land and re-division of power and property, as political analysts say. It is for sure that there are many sub-reasons but almost all wars lead to the changes of borders. The war that lasted from 1754 to 1763 was called The French and Indian War and became the beginning of a great the Seven Years War between England and French. A lot of nations were involved in the war. The French and Indian War happened almost twenty years before the American Revolution but, as they say, it was a pre-condition for the revolution. In 1750 s, there was a fight between France and Britain in Europe.
For a long time the countries were enemies, and soon the war that was started in Europe spreading to North America, to British and French colonies. As it is known, later the French and Indian War provoked great changes in America. In the 18 th century, France occupied a great territory in North America. It controlled fur trade in Canada and around the Great Lakes. It had good relationships with the native Indians. Britains property was a territory along the Atlantic coast.
Indians attitude towards Britain was hostile because they were pushed further inward. Native people of North America played an important role later, taking an active part in the war. In the 1750 s, the British wanted to control the territory belonging to France in North America and the fur trade there. At that time the both countries were great Empires, thats why a war between them could last for long years and cause great losses. Because of it for a lot time there was no proclaimed a war though there were a lot of attacks from the both sides.
By the way, regiments could not get necessary information about peace or war because of bad means of communication. Thats why they acted spontaneously very often. As it is known, native people took part in the war. Most of the tribes supported the French because they were more fairly while conducting business with them. The British, in their turn, threatened their life and independence.
The British colonists captured Indians lands and made them left their homes. The French troops coming to America had problems of their own. The French learned a lot of about the warfare skills from Indians. Their victories in the beginning of the war were thanks to the native tribes. In 1755 France occupied most of America. Its lands covered Canada and from the Mississippi River to Louisiana.
The English constantly invaded France property, building several forts along the border. The French and the English sides sent the Indians to make raids in retaliation. The tension became high and one day Major George Washington, who was only 22, was sent by the British to evict the French. When he reached a party of French gave the order to fire and killed 10 Frenchmen though it was a time of official peace. At that time there were a lot of such cases: though it wasn't officially war yet, but something it was definitely a war-like state.
In August 1755 the situation changed in favor of the British. Though Dieskau, who commanded the French forces in America, made a remarkable plan based on the previous experience of warfare, he lost the battle (the Indians and Canadians ran away). From that time it was the English turn for victory. The conflict that was known as the French and Indians War can be divided into three phases. The early period of the war began in Europe and then was localized in North America.
The middle phase started when the declaration of war between France and Britain was proclaimed. It was the beginning of the first true world war -Seven Years War. Realignment of European alliances sited with Britain and France. The final phase was the victory of Britain. It invested huge sums of money in new military forces. The war ended in 1759 when Quebec was captured by British Major General James Wolfe. 1759 was called Year of Victories by Britain; and in 1763 the Treaty of Paris was signed.
According to the Treaty, Britain got most of the French land in North America. Most of all the colonists had to pay for the war. The results of the war influenced the history of America greatly. Britain became the master of a great and powerful empire. But during the war Britain spent a huge sum of money. It had huge debts.
With the purpose to reduce debts it decided to increase control over the colonies. The colonies did not want to be imposed with taxes at home because the taxes were rather high. Colonists points of view on the Treaty were different in America. Most of them decided to act against British intervention.
They said that they did not need the presence of British troops in American towns and cities. They decided to concentrate their forces on local and personal interests. The period from the end of the French and Indians War till the beginning of the American Revolution was full of different events. After the War an undercurrent feeling of anger against invaders became stronger. The policy of Britain, including the American colonies, was directed to export.
It ruled the Empire under the terms of mercantilism (an economic theory). According to the theory a nation should export more than it imported. In the colonies the theory led to inflation and alienation. American merchant class wondered why they should work for the economic benefit of the other country instead their own. Native Americans were also against the British because the victors took over their land.
The British government tried to tighten controls over its colonies but the situation got worse. Workers and merchants, native people and soldiers took part in different strikes. There were pre-conditions for revolution in America. The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people. The policy of Britain as to taxation and land treaties sparked the American Revolution. It came out of French and Indian War.
