Everything is now being done on a global scale: business, travelling, government policies etc. It is a testimony to just how globalized we have become that the current credit crunch has rapidly engulfed all regions of the world. And so while some effects of globalization are not so admirable, some others are definitely laudable. The field of security is one that stands to gain a lot from the trends of globalization. In due time, and out of necessity, no sovereign country will be able to stand alone on the security front.
This is because the modern challenges associated with security span across whole regions, sometimes even across entire continents. Terrorism, for example, has brought people face to face with the fact that even the most secured states in the world are still vulnerable. Fending off these security threats requires international co-operation, and global diplomatic relations. None of this would even be conceivable without the conveniences being spurned on a daily base by a world that has become a global village. Security and intelligence firms all over the world will, necessarily, have to incorporate international partners in their ranks. This will be one avenue of developing mutual trust.
Security policies will have to be developed in such a way as to be impartial to regions. The idea of international criminal courts will take hold even more firmly, as regional disciplinary bodies loose their relevance. And as globalization is realized, the developing countries will experience the highest impact, as their entire security systems undergo complete and rapid overhauls to incorporate systems that are up to par with the rest of the world. This will be in cognizance of the fact that with globalization, the developed countries cant afford to have other countries lagging behind on security issues. Degree in Security Management My degree in Security Management has exposed me to the technical side of security issues.
It also has given me a global outlook on the issue of security. I intend to contribute back to the development of security by informing the general public about security issues, and how they can generally keep themselves safe. I have realized that some security crises actually occur due to ignorance by the general public about their rights within a sovereign state, and how to go about making those rights work for them. I also intend to specialize more on Security Management, especially the technological aspects. I believe that with my intense passion for technology, I can ultimately contribute to security by at least refining some of the security technologies in existence at the moment. I will also make more people aware that security as a concept has many sub categories, and each sub category poses an opportunity for learning for anyone interested.
But ultimately, I believe that the most significant contribution to security I can make is by setting a personal example to the general public. In this, I will strive never to personally become a security issue. Moreover, I will always assist in the speedy apprehension of anyone considered to be a security threat. In all my aspirations as far as security is concerned, my degree in Security Management will give me a technical and theoretical background.
This is a distinct advantage, since a lot people think about security, but lack of technical training makes their musings to be more idealistic than practical. With my degree in Security, I believe that I will be able to avoid this common pitfall. I expect to be more focused and efficient in my dealings with security issues as a result.
