Internet Suicide Before the advent of Internet, as cultural phenomenon, at the end of twentieth century, it would be quite impossible for the average person to think of words car, duct tape and suicide as such that are strongly related with each other, if put together. It is not the case nowadays, because locking themselves in the car, while letting the exhaust fumes from the engine to slowly fill cars interior, is the favorite suicide method of those who enter a so-called suicide pact online. People with suicidal tendencies, have traditionally been associated with psychological inadequateness. In its turn, it prompted psychiatrists to define peoples willingness to end their lives as having purely irrational essence. This situation has changed drastically at the beginning of 21 st century. It appears that more and more people engage in careful planning of the methods how to put an end to their earthly existence, while going even as far as trying to find a suicide partners.
The growing popularity of Internet suicide clubs, in recent years, only confirms the validity of this statement. It is not a coincidence that dying from asphyxiation, is usually being chosen as the method of committing suicide by those who utilize online socialization for the purpose of finding friends in death. This is another indication that suicide pacts are extremely rational in their essence. Thus, the most striking feature of group suicides is that fact that peoples rationale is being used as a tool of committing highly irrational act. It is also not a pure coincidence that entering suicide pacts have especially become popular among people in countries with high standards of living, such as Japan, U. S. , Sweden and Britain. The understanding of this phenomenon is only possible within the context of socio-political trends that define the realities of modern living. The ideology of Liberalism, which is being promoted as the only appropriate foundation, upon which social policies can be based, results in spiritual atomization of society.
People are being increasingly alienated from surrounding reality, because they are required to rationalize all the aspects of their existence. From the time when they enter elementary school, children learn that, in order for them to advance socially, they need to become ultimate conformists. The human life is being referred to as sacred, but people have a hard time associating such sacredness with satisfaction of their physical needs alone, which is the ideological cornerstone of Liberalism. This is why it is Sweden, where the suicide rate among citizens is the highest in the world, despite the fact that majority of Swedes should not have many reasons to complain about their lives. Thus, the solution to internet suicide cannot only be considered within a context of adjusting the law.
The practice shows that the legal system can never keep up with the pace of scientific progress. As for today, the Internet sites that feature suicide chat are being banned in most of the countries. At the same time, the rate of internet suicide continues to rise steadily, which allows us to conclude that, despite various restrictive measures, on the part of government, people with suicidal tendencies are still able to find friends online. This allows us to conclude that, in order to be able to effectively deal with internet suicides, officials would have to go after the initial cause of the problem. As soon as citizens in Western countries realize themselves as being an integral part of their nations, once again, there will be fewer reasons for them to get depressed, in the first place. The same applies to Japan.
Apparently, people need to have a cause. It is only when doctrine of national solidarity replaces the neo-Liberal insanity of political correctness, as basis for policy-making, that we are going to witness a sharp decline in the rate of internet suicides.
