I. World War I had ended. Peace could finally be negotiated between to the Allies and Germany. Bad luck though struck the Allies as Germany had been hit with a horrible depression.
A. The number cause for war in most countries up to that time had been poor economic conditions. In 1933, Germany held their usual presidential elections. The people of the country were hoping that the man the elected would bring peace to Germany and possibly better living conditions for them all. So what man they did choose to elect? a.
In 1933, A named Adolph Hitler was elected to be the president of Germany. He made many promises and assurances that the people of Germany would have a better life coming. b. Three months after his inauguration, President Hitler turned his back on his people and announced communism over the country of Germany. The people did not suffer as they usually did in communist countries. Adolph Hitler was to attempt to genocide the entire Jewish race from Asia.
With this, World War II began in the bloodiest of battles, with some of the most advanced military equipment. The Battle of Normandy considered one of the bloodiest battles ever during World War II, and why was this battle such an important victory for the allies? II. During the beginning of World War II, infantry weapons had the power to now fire over twenty shots in the span of three seconds and were also equipped with deadly grenades or mines that made most battles, especially D-Day, extremely gory. A. Automatic weapons were invented in 1904 but were not readily used in all army for firing was to great of a risk. 1.
The American and the British began improving there weapons after the end of World War II knowing that an army equipped with automatic weapons was a great force indeed. 2. With the invention of the tank, armies went on to practice secret ways to kill the men whom were inside the layers of metal inside. Special automatic machine guns called the Goryonov Medium Machine guns were then invented to dispose of the men whom dared try to execute the men inside of the tanks. a.
The men could throw grenades into the hatch of the control room of the tank causing them to die or the controls to fail. b. Tanks were major killing machines that were expensive to manufacture so keep them alive using these new brands of machine guns was extremely important for any army. B. During the Battle of D-Day, charging armies would be an immediate threat to a defensive line. The grenade then, was invented, in 1914, but was very costly for an army to make.
When better ways of creating it were found, all members if not most in a certain regiment were equipped with the fragmentation hand grenade. 1. A grenade in the World War II battles was usually a plastic shell casing packed with 900 steel fragment that spread in a 20 -meter radius. When the pin on the grenade is pulled, there will be a four-second delay before the grenade explodes. A. Military technology grenades advanced so much that in WWII battles, that some special types of weapons could launch these lethal weapons bombs out a vast distance up and including to 100 feet! a.
Another type of grenade used was one of the chemical weaponry families. The gas grenade was not very commonly used in the WW II War but it existed. b. With the use of any sack or in some cases even the soldiers sock, a container could be filled with a large amount of explosives or grenades and with the aide of a sticky substance could be placed on the wheels of a tank. III. The first major American interdiction was one of the most famous attacks in world history. It was a cold morning upon June 5, 1943, at the Italian beach of Omaha. Early in the morning guns could be heard from miles away as the allies began their assault on the enemy of Germany and Italy in one of the most important ally victory battles in the war. The important battle called The Battle of Normandy.
A. Germany had seemed to be keeping the treaty it signed with the USSR to not invade or attack them. In that same year of 1943, Adolph Hitler, communist dictator of Germany whom was responsible for the death of six million Jewish people, broke his treaty sending an attack force into Russia. 1. The United States of America had not yet pronounced war on any country during all of World War II.
The British and French had already done so fearing that the German would attempt to conquer their own countries. December 7, 1941, A date that would live in infamy where the words from President Franklin D. Roosevelt the day after Japan had put a surprise attack on a US naval base in Hawaii. a. They crippled the United States Navy but it was still able to fight. The attack from Japan not only enraged all the citizens from the United States of America, but also put the United States of America, officially into World War II on the side of the Allies.
b. The Allies (United States of America, Britain and France) knew that Hitler taking over Russia would be a major loss and might possibly end all chances for the Allies to win this war. With time a very precious thing, a large attack force began to head towards Normandy, specifically towards an Italian/German outpost located on Omaha Beach. Under command of General Omar N.
Bradley, the Allies went in under a mass of firing. The Italians and few Germans there were sure that Hitler would soon send a counterattack to help them out before the Allies got to close. Hitlers attack never materialized giving the Americans and British a chance to over. IV. The victory at Omaha Beach was a very important one for the Allies indeed. They fortified what they had just killed to take over.
With reinforcements, supplies, and healing on the way, it appeared that the next step for the Allies was to invade the Germans. A. Time was of the essence for the US, Britain and France for the USSR was beginning to collapse as the Germans non-stop attacks kept becoming a threat. Planning an attack and happy over their victory, Eisenhower reinforced this area with 850, 000 US soldiers, 150, 000 US vehicles and a large airforce landing in a nearby French airport meant that the Allies were good to go in the downfall of the Nazis, Japanese, and Italians. A. The Germany's went on then to capture smaller countries but not Britain, France and with the help of the Allies, kept them from the Soviet Union.
World War II was a war fought not over different point of views of other countries, but also of the extinction of an entire human race. 1. The United States of America, France, Great Britain and the Soviet Union; all battling Germany and Adolph Hitler. Germany was not outnumbered though for they had allies in Japan and Italy to even the odds against them. B. Was it worth the casualties that the U. S.
A. suffered? Some say yes and some say no. Why risk American lives to save the lives of people from an entirely different country?
There is really no right or wrong answer. But to the Jewish people whose families or grandparents were part of the Holocaust and by chance survived, they are thankful to the Allies. An estimated 9 million Jews lived in Asian before Adolph Hitler came to power. Two and a half million survived.
