Comparative Analysis (1) When we compare illustrations of Katja Kamm and Marie Laure Cruschis, the first obvious similarity about them appears to be the fact that they both affected by primitivism, as artistic method. At the same time, we can say that illustrations primitivism has intentional properties. In other words, artists painting style, in both illustrations, is meant to emphasize the main idea, contained in analyzed pieces. Even though that is quite impossible to be absolutely sure as to what artists had on their mind, during the creative process, we can say that both illustrations use dynamism for semantic purposes. Kamm's illustration represents action in making. Cruschis illustration depicts tree, which can also be thought of as logical continuation of the road.

Thus, we can say that the uniting theme, in both cases, is the idea of transformation. At the same time, there are also many differences between illustrations. Kamm's work is clearly meant to appeal to children; this is why we can find no hidden meaning in it. Cruschis illustration, on the other had, contains symbolical undertones, which allows us to come to conclusion that individual must have a general understanding of art concepts, in order to appreciate it. Kamm uses the contrast of colors for creating an artistic effect, while colors in Cruschis illustration are being used for establishing a specific mood, which is why they do not call for viewers attention.

This is the main reason why Cruschis work can be interpreted in many different ways, while we cannot say the same about Kamm's illustration. (2) The main similarity between logo designs of Danielle Akstein and Luke Bott is that they both are meant to convey to viewers the functional essence of maternity and restaurant business. The first logo contains symbol @, which is designed in such way that it reminds an embryo. It allows people to subconsciously associate maternity with process of getting pregnant and with variety of psychological and physical factors that are related to it. The simple script and pink color, used in ME@B logo, are meant to relieve womens anxiety, which is an integral part of childbirth, and to assure potential moms that they have nothing to worry about.

The Stack Shack logo contains images of animals that serve as subjects of grilling. The cow, pig and turkey are being stacked upon each other, thus creating a comical effect, which is meant to divert viewers attention from the fact that animals need to be killed, before they are being put on the barbeque. Thus, we can say that both logos are being designed for the purpose of adding more appeal to controversial practices. ME@B and Stack Shack logos appear as very simple, however, if we look closer at them, it will become clear that Akstein and Bott had spent great amount of time designing these logos. Even though authors used artistic methods to their fullest, while creating analyzed logos, it would be wrong to suggest that these logos are truly extraordinary, in traditional sense of this word. There are many differences about ME@B and Stack Shack logos.

First off all, Akstein strives to instill positive feelings in viewers with the mean of giving logos script rounded forms. This has a soothing effect on women, which suggests that ME@B logo is meant to appeal exclusively to them. On the other hand, Stack Shack logo exploits masculine undertones, in order to appeal to mens carnivorous instincts. The old West script is used for the words Stack Shack to remind men the times when their act was not the subject of artificial laws. While eating barbeque meat they feel as being pioneers, which is beneficial for boosting their ego and appetite.

In ME@B logo, pink and purple colors dominate, which proves once again that Akstein's design is meant to attract females. Stack Shack color spectrum consists of red, white and black, which are traditionally associated with German militarism and with macho masculinity in general. (3) The photographs of Elizabeth Watt and Tobias Reymonds depict compositions of seemingly odd objects, with the purpose of creating an artistic effect. However, photographers task, in both cases, was making viewers to believe that their photos were taken spontaneously. We can say that both photos reflect authors esthetic ideas, which allows us to suggest that analyzed pictures can be discussed within a context of artistic statement. They are meant to trigger a certain set of emotions, within ourselves, which is the necessary precondition for understanding photographers worldview philosophy. Thus, analyzed pictures can be thought of as insight into Watts and Reymonds psyche.

Even though that there are more differences than similarities, between both photos, they nevertheless can be referred to as the artistic statements of post-modernity, because they rely on visual effects as something that effectively replaces a rational meaning. The fact that both photos are highly original creates a situation when viewers are able to enjoy looking at them, without having to understand pictures metaphysical essence. The most obvious difference between photos lays in authors dissimilar approach to dealing with colors. Watts photo contains a full spectrum of colors, which has an effect of instilling viewer with optimistic and cheerful feelings.

Reymonds photo, on the other hands, relies on blending of colors, as the mean of creating artistic effect. The colors there are washed out and they belong to the same gamma. In addition, in Reymonds photo, shades play an important role, while Watt ignores them altogether. There is no doubt that analyzed photos are meant to appeal to different audiences. Watts composition is most likely to be appreciated by children more than by anybody else, because it contains candies and cookies. Reymonds creation, on the other hand, is meant to appeal to mature audiences, because the mental effort required, on their part, in order to be able to enjoy it. (4) It appears that Katja Kamm, as illustrator, Luke Bott, as logo designer, and Elizabeth Watt, as photographer, would suit the best, as decorators, when it comes to rebounding a traditional downtown French restaurant into a fusion-style cuisine restaurant.

This is because these individuals posses a uniquely distinct artistic techniques, which would represent restaurants new philosophy. It is quite impossible to associate the works of either artist with ethnically motivated vision of surrounding reality, which is the main reason why we can assume that the restaurant would benefit a lot from having them as its decorators.
