Audience: Students who need to sharpen their Creative Thinking Employees who need continuing support for career development Marketing: Advertising the workshop using different media like poster, newspaper, television and blogs including email campaign. Budget: Venue Materials for distribution Resource Persons Stipend Incidentals (expenses in the preparation for the workshop) Creative Tools and Techniques Used: The seminar-workshop will make use of different creative tools and techniques which will help participants generate ideas particularly with a group. The different tolls will include brainstorming, remembrance, the Kipling Method (5 W 1 H), pause and role-play as tools to identify solutions to a known problem. These tools can be use at all stages of implementation and innovation of the solution.

Workshop Plan: The workshop will be for 60 minutes; divided into three segments of twenty minutes each. The problem which was presented to the participants to give a solution to was a memory enhancing device which they have to find a use and to design a method to market it. The participants were divided into three groups of four people. The first segment was a group work / discussion .

Participants were asked to identify possible uses for the machine. They were asked to put their heads together and come up with the possible and probable uses of the device. The second segment of the workshop requires the same group members to think of an effective advertisement and infomercial that will successfully sell the machine. The group can use any media to present and promote their product. The last part of the workshop is collaborative work where each member of the group is asked to play a role in the presentation of their chosen advertisement. Creativity What are the creative theories, tools and techniques employed?

The whole concept of the workshop is centered and established on the theory that group endeavor is only effective if certain tools and techniques for boosting creative thinking is employed. The following tools and techniques are deemed useful in gaining and selecting creative ideas: Brainstorming, the oldest and the classic creative tool for group process. This enables the members to use each other's ideas to trigger their own thinking. Brainstorming deliberately gives permission to be 'stupid' and 'child-like'; thus, these will stop us from getting trapped by our own thinking structures. Remembrance, a tool which help identify solutions to known problems. With this tool, participants make use of an old Buddhist trick of inducing the mind to remember something.

Treating the problem as if it had already been solved tricks the sub-conscious into making up something; into remembering a solution to the present unresolved problem. The 'as-if' framing is often used in persuasion, where speaking or acting 'as if's ome thing is true leads to people accepting it without question. The Kipling Method (5 W 1 H), or asking the What, Why, Where, When and How questions to unstuck creative session, when people dry up and run out of ideas. Asking the Kipling questions work because they are short and direct. Answers to them help present different views when defining a problem. Question challenge people and besides, everyone is bound to give an answer since social rules say it is impolite not to do so.

Pause is one of the simplest yet a very good tool to generate creative thoughts. Adhering to the law of nature, it is expected that when faced with silence, the mind will desperately think of thinks to try and fill it since nature abhors a vacuum. This creative tension in itself can thus be an effective stimulus. Role-play can be used as a break from normal ideation sessions, to stimulate different thinking.

By reversing or going into another role, one also mentally gets out of ones own thinking. Playing a role in effect induces a person to take another persons characteristics and thus another way of looking at a situation. The various tools and techniques used to help the participants boost, increase and enhance their creative thinking skills work as one to bring out the desire outcome. Implementation Did the workshop go to plan? If not, what changes did you make and why. What went well and what did not go well in the workshop plan, and why?

The workshop basically went on as planned though there were small adjustments made. The group was able to go through the whole activity before the allotted time so modifications on the activities planned were made. An added tool for generating ideas (the imagining or what-if technique) was introduced to give participants more chance to explore the possibility of having different solutions for the problem presented. The activities were well received by the participants; everyone got involved and shared a part of themselves in all the activities.

On the other hand, the unfolding of the workshop was with a little hitch because of certain adjustments made to conform to the time allotted for the workshop. Evaluation The evaluation (both quantitative and qualitative) of your workshop assessing whether you have achieved your objectives, as well as your questionnaire design and analysis. The flow of the workshop is effective due to the fact that appropriate and pertinent tools and techniques for creative thinking that generates new ideas were employed. There were enough time and activities to draw out answers and or solutions to the problems from the participants.

The drawback was the fact that here were no evaluation tools from which assessment of the workshop can be made and based. The workshop management was not able to design a questionnaire to measure the effectiveness and impact of the workshop. The workshops evaluation can only be based on the observation as to how the participants took part in the activities and contributed to the success of the workshop. This will be fundamentally based on observations of the perceived reactions of the participants. Reflection A reflection on your creative workshop leadership skills drawing on the: implementation of your workshop (self-refection); evaluation of your workshop by the other students; and feedback from your tutor. There were several shortcomings and deficiencies in the preparation, planning and implementation of the workshop.

The design of the workshop is not actually very stimulating in a sense that participants were not given in depth stimulations which will help them in thinking creatively. This was pointed out by the tutor in the case of not using a background music that could have probably enhanced the creative atmosphere of the workshop. Posters and other visual aids could have helped in leading and directing the participants into the desired outcome. The tutor also pointed out the lack of organization of the workshop which probably sprung out of the fact that there was a lack of effort in its preparation. One very crucial neglect which seems to signify the weakness of the design is the negligence and carelessness of not being able to design measurements for the how much (or the quantitative evaluation) did the participant learn from the experience and how well (or the qualitative evaluation) did the participants imbibed the lessons presented and demonstrated in the workshop.

The success (or failure) of the workshop can really never be measured because of the lack of assessment tools.
