Transport Business I look forward to complete my high school graduation with high grades so that I can make my dream of owning a transport business come true. For this I have planned to join a transportation company that has a large fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment, where with my interest in this line of work and my education, I am confident of successfully going through all the different stages starting from the bottom and rising to the top so that I can learn how this business works. I would not mind joining such a company even as a laborer or an apprentice so that starting with the manual work that is required to keep the different types of vehicles and equipment in proper running condition, I may have to dirty my hands with oil and grease with their maintenance and servicing. The initial stages of my learning this trade would require of me to repair punctures for which I would have to remove and re-fix all types of different sized tubes and tires; checking the water levels in the radiator, batter acid levels, engine oil levels etc. Thereafter I would get into the nitty-gritty part of learning how the vehicles bodies, parts and engines are repaired and overhauled. Working on different types of vehicles has the advantage of understanding in a better way how the basic mechanism of vehicles and equipment works.
Once I have gained expertise in the mechanical part, I shall divert my attention to the driving and operating of vehicles and heavy mechanical equipment and get my licenses for operating them professionally. Together with this earning while learning experience I shall also learn about the requirements of the human element such as the preparing of drivers and operators work schedules, managing their time in a way that the maximum output is derived from the hours they put in. I am sure that with the versatility in all the work that shall be able to do, I shall also get a chance to learn how administratively and financially this business is done. Coordinating with the mechanics and preparing requests to the Stores for spare parts and from there forwarding the requisition after management approval to the Procurement Department for purchasing the required material and once it has been received to make it available to the source from where they had been requested from. Besides this the dealings with freight forwarding companies through whom the transport service works is also vitally important to understand and learn so that when I am in a position to begin my own transport business I would know exactly what I should be doing and what I should not. Once I have earned enough to buy my own rig, my dream shall have come true because I shall be my own master commanding my vehicle to new cities and states all over the United States and practically be seeing and experiencing the different cultures, landscapes and landmarks of the country.
I may also get the opportunity to operate in the beginning across our boundaries into Canada and Mexico and perhaps even further. Maybe I may even get the chance to some day drive my rig in other continents, which I am very sure would be a very interesting way of seeing the world. With careful planning as I grow older I would be in an excellent position to invest all the money that I may have saved by expanding the number of my rigs to two and who knows from there on to a fleet of vehicles that would ply the highways of the country with my name on their sides. And as I grow older and after I have seen enough of the world I perhaps would involve myself as a Managing Director controlling the movement of my fleet based on the experience I would have gained through my understanding and professionalism in my preferred line of business.
