All students at college have the same opportunities while studying. But what makes good and bad students, successful and not successful ones? The success of a student depends on his attitude toward studies, he must be motivated and interested in what he studies, and have enough time to pay close attention to it. Nowadays the competition on the job market is growing rapidly. And students who want to get a top positions they have dreamed about have to be highly educated. "Organize first for knowledge, first with the object of making us know ourselves as a nation, for we have to do that before we can be of value to other nations of the world" (Eleanor Roosevelt). Here is a time to be creative, hardworking, motivated and responsible.

As young children, we have a great ability to learn and see past setbacks. As we begin to meet expectations created by our families, schools, and environment, the motivation of our early years shifts from our goals to pleasing others, and often our desire to learn suffers. The most important quality the successful students must have is being motivated, to go through difficulties to the goal. It is very important, because it is so much easier to study when you know that you will need this knowledge for your future career. What is your motivation? What is your main goal?

Lets think about it critically. Critical thinking is "the careful deliberate determination of whether we should accept, reject, or suspend judgement about a claim, and the degree of confidence with which we accept or reject it. " (From "Critical Thinking" by Moore and Parker). Successful student realizes that his first objective is studying and his strongest motivation is his good future. The desire to study is something that every student needs to become successful. It is easier to go up to the mountain when you know what you are going there for and what is waiting for you there. Now, we have our goals stated and we know that only high-motivated student can meet his goals in the future.

Time is scarce; we never get enough of it. A successful student has to learn how to manage his time. Time management is setting and following a schedule of study in order to organize and prioritize your studies in the context of competing activities of work, family, etc. Successful student monitors his time, reflects on how he spends it, and is aware when he is productive or just wastes this scarce resource. When students struggle because they can't do everything on time, they never think how much time they lose while chattering on the phone, and meeting friends. There is no right or wrong way to study, but to become successful we need to learn how to use our time wisely.

Let's take a look back in time. Here we are last year, studying for final exams, writing final reports and research papers, still managing to get together with our friends and go to the year end dance. Everything went smoothly, right? Definitely not! Studying consisted of staying up all night trying to cram for five different exams, final reports were scribbled out on the night before they had to be turned in, and while we did make it to the dance, we spent the whole time there talking about what we would do if we failed.

We have to realize that when a day scheduled to every minute we get the most from the life, learning to manage our time helps to study well and injects life with different activities. When a student motivates himself, because cares about his future, and knows how to organize his time to manage to do everything on time, he will succeed in studies and in the life as a whole. The better we understand what we want to attain in the life and when is the best time to do it, the faster we are going to reach our goal. Thats what makes us successful. Bibliography: 1.
