1. contrast: sociology and psychology Sociology is an ever-changing field, which is solely concerned with the individual. Websters dictionary's definition reads the study of the organizations, institutions, and development of human society (Websters new riverside dictionary, pg. 655). This definition also included the entirety of social relationships among human beings. I concluded that the two definitions together would mean that a group of individuals would be bound together or related to one another through shared institutions and cultures. This particular explanation of sociology would be related to different aspects of our lives, specifically, our business lives, church congregations and recreations.

Since society is the product of human action, it never stands still. Even maintaining tradition and keeping things stable requires effort. Most social change is small. Psychology is the science that studies not the different types of relationships in any specified social group, but the processes which occur in every individual. The first contrast is that sociology deals with group of people when psychology only with one individual, even though many individuals have same psychological traits. The second difference between these two fields is that sociology (social interactions between individuals) depends upon psychology of each individual.

You may argue that sociology affects psychology of a person; however, sociology is interactions of individuals, which are under influence of psychological characteristics of every person. 2. Discuss the significance of culture to humans. Culture is very important for humans if we really want to be considered human beings. Every one of us listens to music, reads books or magazines or simply receives any kind of information from the world that is around each of us. The world is built on culture. But then what the culture is?

In my opinion, the culture is the set of appealing codes that is different for each individual. However, some of these codes are generally accepted, for example art. I think that culture has a very global meaning and it cannot be peculiarly defined, but it is evident that culture makes us humans, which makes it important. 3. Analyze how self is both very social and very personal. I am social and I am personal at the same time that is reality.

It is not easy to explain why it is so, but I think that every individual while interacting within a certain group of people, which is a fraction of society, but still acts according to rules of society. Socializing is very important, and we all try to socialize more in one way or another, but we all are people and we all have thoughts, which, to tell the truth, are definitely aimed on the process of socialization. For example: I think that I need to study a lot. What for?

For making more money>for satisfying different needs and wants in the future>for scoring women>for having fun>for feeling good. That is a simple example, but every one of us cannot achieve that simple goal feeling good without socialization. Therefore, personal cannot feel good without social part of self, which makes it possible to conclude that we all are social beings who are at the same time personal, because we are thinking about us. 4. Describe the perspective of dramaturgical analysis. Dramaturgical analysis is the sociological perspective associated with Erving Goffman that views the performances staged in a theater as an analytical analogy and tool for depicting social life. Indeed, social life is very similar to the theatre, where actors show or hide feeling that are inside of them.

Each person has something to show and something to hide. These shown / hidden emotions are very important for being successful in social interaction. 5. Recognize the core traits of bureaucracy. Bureaucracy is social structure made up of a hierarchy of statuses and roles that is prescribed by explicit rules and procedures and based on a division of function and authority. When a person has authority over other people, he or she attempts to use it. However, long time ago authority was achieved through personal qualities, while today it can be given from the force above.

This is the core trait of bureaucracy and it makes it dangerous for society.
