Throughout time different countries have had many conflicts with each other. Be it of religious, racial or cultural differences or a multitude of many other things, war has almost always become the only possible solution. When looking back at the past, it seems that war is inevitable whenever two or more competing parties do not agree with each other over a common solution. The question at hand is whether or not war is the answer. The US invasion to Iraq has triggered a lot of controversial responses all over the globe. While most of the countries and peoples condemned the United States, there were also some allies in this war.
The war with Iraq was won, however taking into consideration that this war was far from just, we, as Americans, should get out of Iraq right now. Although the decision to start war against Iraq was supported by the majority of Americans, the international community was simply outraged. And it is understandable, because in its quest for power the US has violated so many international conventions and treaties that both UN and NATO should have been dismissed right away because one of its members simply disregarded all of its most important documents and treaties, and nothing was done about that at all. The US has violated the international law, and all the countries that enacted those laws together with America could not prevent this democratic country from doing so.
What is then the purpose of UN and NATO? They cannot control a country that is a member of both those organizations, how could they possibly then interrupt into other countries affairs? When American Air forces started to bomb Iraq, the Iraqi military were well aware of that, and they were most probably at the places where the bombs could do them no harm. However, the civilians did not possess that information, and as a result of the bombings, thousands of them were killed or wounded. The things that amazes me most of all is that after bombing Iraqi civilians and killing small kids with bombs, the American governmental officials actually had the guts to send the humanitarian aid to the country.
Such a hypocrisy! Killing people and leaving them without shelter and then sending food and medication to help what could be more ridiculous. That might be just my subjective opinion, but the war in Iraq certainly was not a just war, therefore we should get out of Iraq right now. Most of the world countries agreed that it was an act of unprecedented deviance from the US, and it simply disregarded all the International agreements and the International law at large. To back up my opinion, I will analyze the just war theory to find out whether the war could be considered just according to the theory. The country of the United States would have been just by going to war with Iraq if the criteria of Just Cause, Last Resort, Reasonable hope of success, Right Intention, and Proportionality were met.
If one or more of these criteria were not met, the war that US engaged itself it was at least unjust.
