Cocos Island is a small island 300 miles off the coast off Costa Rica. It has been a Costa Rican possession sense 1868. This Island has been famous for sometime because of the many stories and legends told over time about hidden treasure. There were a few legends about pirates who dropped their loot there. The most famous ones were Benito Bonito, Captain Bennett Graham and William Thompson. All these main stories and other stories give us the idea of hidden treasure still reaming on the island.

According to legend, over $ 1 billion of treasure is still there buried in the sand and in the unforgivable jungles steep hillsides. I am proposing a trip to the island to search for the treasures that are still unaccounted for to this day. The trip I am proposing is a well-planed expedition form Costa Rica to Cocos Island. Along with me, the trip will include my 10 hand selected men from all over the world.

These men have the knowledge and experience to help locate the treasure. We have men who have researched the treasure and also men who can help locate the treasure. I am teamed up with Jon Smith, who has been to the island before and knows the procedure of getting to the island, once our team gets to Costa Rica. We have made arrangements with the Costa Rican Government to have one of there finest ships sail us the 300 miles to the island. We would like you to understand that our well-planed trip is very serious and is within reach with your contribution.

There are many steeps that have already been taken to get the trip underway. The first and most serious steep is gaining permission from the Costa Rican Government, witch we just have been granted. The conditions are that we must split our finding with them. This among other things makes us believe that there is treasure there. This is the major step that we have been waiting for. Now that this step has been made our crew has become very excited to get the expedition underway.

A small government establishment has been maintained at Water Bay, mainly to supervise treasure hunting, this is where we intend our crew to be dropped off. We first planed to stay on the island for six weeks but I dont believe we have the funds to stay the entire six weeks. We will now plan to stay four weeks total on our trip. This means only three weeks on the island. We our sure that our crew has done the sufficient research to locate and recover the islands treasure in the allotted amount of time.

This could be a very good opportunity for you to make a small investment that might pay off big for you. I now I just cant tell you all about the treasure and have you believe it so here is a little information that you might find interesting. In 1818 Captain Bennett Graham, got the whole idea started. As the story goes Grahams fortune of 350 tons of gold galleon stolen from Spanish galleons, was buried on the island. Mary Welch, one of the crewmembers was released from prison 20 years later with a remarkable tale.

She had claimed to witness the burial of Grahams fortune and could retrieve it. The treasure was said to have a present-day value at $ 160 million. As you probably guessed the treasure was never found and we believe that they are still there today. Another treasure that is supposedly still buried somewhere on the island is that of Benito Bonito. In 1818, he terrorized the west coast of the Americas, looting and burning Spanish galleons. He hid all his loot on Cocos Island.

Two members of the clan lead the authorities to his hideout and Bonito was arrested and then sentenced to be killed. The two members apparently never managed to return to Cocos and Captains cut is still there to this day with its estimated modern value at $ 300 million but also never got away with anything. Finally the most famous heist is the Great Treasure of Lima. In 1826, William Thompson, a known and respected trader in the region was asked to keep the treasure of Lima in his ship for several months. He was asked to keep the treasures and return when the political situation improved. The temptation proved too great for Thompson and his men.

Once out of sight of land, they cut the throats of the Viceroys appointed guards, tossed their bodies overboard, and made their way to Cocos. Soon after leaving Cocos, they were caught by a Spanish man at sea. The crew was put on trial for piracy, convicted and hung. Thompson and his first mate, which agreed to lead the captors to the stolen goods and were saved.

As soon as Thompson and the mate reached the island they suddenly ran into the thick rain forest never to be caught and there treasure is still there as well. I hope that stories have helped you consider a contribution. Now on to the most important subject at hand your contribution to us. We have selected you or your company because you have been gracious in the past before. You also might have been selected because you have shown in the recent past that you like to invest your money with a little risk upon a very large pay off. We first have to give half of our findings to the Costa Rican Government because that is the law and we agreed with that before we ever got permission to set foot on the island.

We also have made arrangements to sell most of our hopeful findings to museums and treasure exhibits across the United States. You must know that there is no amount of profit for us, unless we find a very large amount or all of treasure we know about on the island. This expedition is to prove major missing parts of history and help us more understand pirates of the 1800 s. Just keep in mind that very small parts of the major treasures have been found and we intend to find them all.

This chapter in world history needs to be closed and you have the opportunity to help do so. Bibliography:
