... g brought to television. It will let parents have more control over the programs they do not want their children to watch. Television networks should not be able to prohibit the viewing of certain shows. Parents should be the ones making the decision of their child's viewing. Even if the networks do censor shows, doing so will not make a big difference on anyone's life.

If parents want to keep their children innocent then they will never be able to see the light of day because there is violence happening around us at all times. In the First Amendment, there are five freedoms mentioned: exercise of religion, press, assembly, petition to the government, and speech. If they censor television, then they are breaking that amendment by not letting everyone have freedom of speech. 'South Park' has made TV history in recent years, clocking in as the highest-rated original scripted adult cable series, the first to ever accomplish that feat. The huge audiences attracted for 'South Park' are a clear indication that, for the first time, individual series on cable are going to start getting more viewers than some of the lower-rated series on the primetime schedules of the broadcast networks. As South Park becomes more mainstream and continues to gain public acceptance, TV viewer ratings are going to steadily climb at unprecedented paces.

In time it has potential to become the highest rated cartoon series ever. Trey Parker and Matt Stone have been involved in several movie projects and other TV shows. Both Parker and Stone starred in and wrote Orgasm a 1997 feature length film. Parker and Stone were also writers for the short lived Comedy Central sitcom spoofing the President called "That's My Bush." The duo teamed up later again in 2004 for the puppet blockbuster Team America: World Police. In 1999 Parker and Stoned teamed up to make the full length feature film South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut.

The premise of the film is South Park is a quiet and peaceful place until the latest Terrance and Philip movie comes out. Once all the kids see it, all hell breaks loose, as the parents try to find a way to stop their kids from saying all the naughty words coming out of their mouths. The parents blame Terrance and Philip, place them under Citizen's Arrest, and declare war on their home country, Canada. It is up to the kids to save the world from Satan and keep Terrance and Philip from being executed. South Park was a critically acclaimed hit.

South Park was nominated for a Best Song Oscar for "Blame Canada." It won an MTV Award for their song "Uncle Fuck." It also won best animated film by New York Film Critics and Las Vegas Film Critics. It received rave reviews from Entertainment Weekly, The Wall Street Journal, Rolling Stone and The New York Times, just to name a few. South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut had an estimated $ 21 million budget, but the movie itself grossed over $ 52 million in box office revenues. Many people argue that South Park is nothing more than an immature, vulgar cartoon for children. But if you watch it closely and look for the meaning most episodes contain a message that critiques a certain current event. The fact that the episodes are done on computers, and it only takes about a week to make one episode, makes it easy to come up with episodes that are relevant to what is going on in the world right now.

Parker and Stone began to really criticize certain groups and events beginning in the 3 rd season. In Episode 301: Rainforest Shmainforest, Mr. Mackey punishes the boys by forcing them to join the 'Getting Gay With Kids' choir. The choir is going to Costa Rica to help save the rainforest. While on a tour of the rainforest the choir group gets lost when a snake kills their guide. They soon discover the evils of the rainforest, which changes the choir group's message.

In the end everyone realizes that there are other things in the world other than rainforests that are worth saving. In Episode 306: Sexual Harassment Panda, Sexual Harassment Panda visits Mr. Garrison's class. Cartman Sues Stan for sexual harassment and Kyle's dad is getting rich. The boys go in search of 'Sexual Harassment Panda' to stop the insanity.

They find him at 'The Island of Misfit Mascots Commune' and convince him to change his cause. He becomes Petey, the 'don't sue people' Panda. This episode is making fun of how today's society is so quick to sue people. One of the most controversial episodes was Episode 502: It Hits the Fan. The you-know-what hits the fan a 162 times when the citizens of South Park hear the word "Shit" on the popular show, "Cop Drama. " Boffo ratings have the executives at HBC plotting further use of the curse word, as the nation is struck by a mysterious plague that unleashes the ancient Knights of Standards and Practices. Only Chef and the boys can save South Park, and the world.

This show is mocking the FCC who cares so much more about nudity and cursing on television while they hardly ever put their foot down on violence on TV. In more recent episodes the boys of South Park have been attacking such topics as steroids as in episode 803: Up the Down Steroid. Jimmy is in training for an upcoming sporting event and he's determined to win at any cost. Cartman feels he can easily take first place against Jimmy. He just has to convince the qualifying committee he's handicapped. This show is a commentary on the whole steroids issue that is so popular in sports today.

At the end they poke fun directly at MLB players Mark McGwire, Barry Bonds and Jeremy Giambi. And in Episode 812: Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset, all the fourth grade girls idolize a rich, famous and spoiled socialite. They even have her brand new toy set that comes complete with video camera, night vision filter, play money and losable cell phone. In an effort to impress their idol, the girls pursue the boys to make their own videos.

This show is a mockery of how recently female celebrities have become famous for partying, drinking and sleeping around. The show revolves mainly around Paris Hilton who they refer to as a stupid, spoiled whore on several occasions. We cannot protect all of the children in the world by censoring a few television shows. If anyone is at fault for exposing their child to the bad in the world, it is their parents.

Remember what the 8 year old said about South Park's swear words, "My daddy says them every single day. " It is the parents' choice if they want to protect their children from all of the violence and profanity that is out there, it is in no way a choice of television networks. Everyone has a right to speak their minds and not have their thoughts censored.
