Moving away from all of your best friends can be a real tragedy in a sixteen-year-old teenagers life. It's hard to get up and go eight hundred miles away from everyone you know and everything you grew up around. I had this happen to me about three years ago and it is the largest change I have ever had to adjust to in my life. It wasn't the changes around me that I was bothered by; it was that I did not know one living soul for hundreds of miles and all I wanted was a friend.

Two days into the summer after sophomore year at Governor Mifflin High School in the little town of Shillington Pennsylvania I would find out the worse news that a sixteen year old could hear. I found out that in four days my family and I would be moving to a suburb outside of Chicago because of my dads recent job change. I was devastated, I ran to my room and cried for about an hour with thoughts of all my friends running through my head. It was like all the memories I had with all my friends were going through my head at the same time.

It was beyond doubt one of the biggest challenges of my life. During the last few days I was there I went out with my friends every night having as much fun as I could have, but moving day spoiled all the fun I had. Moving day had come, but I wasn't ready to go anywhere. I just couldn't accept leaving all I know behind and moving to some place foreign to me.

The hardest part for me was having to say goodbye to all my friends I knew since I was little, they would stop by the House, start talking to me and all I could do is cry. I knew what I was leaving behind was something irreplaceable and almost impossible to come by again. Once my family and I arrived at our new house I was still very saddened because of the move and had trouble not getting mad at my parents. Summer went bye like it wasn't even there and by the time school started I was very depressed. The new school I was going to was Naperville North High School which was about ten times the size of my old school in Pennsylvania in size and in the number of students. In my school in Pennsylvania there were about twelve students in each class, here the number runs around thirty two.

The school building was so big I had a lot of trouble getting to class on time let alone finding them in the building. The school wasn't what I was bothered by the most because it was the fact that I didn't have any social life and I was a social person. There were a lot of different groups of people at my new high school, it was tough for me to fit in and meet new people. Everyone just knew me as the new kid and didn't even bother to find out what my real name was. The first month of being the new kid is a very hard month of school. I knew no one who I had anything in common with and began to get terrible grades in school.

Finally after a while at Naperville North I realized it is about time for me to take what I have in front of me. So I began talking to more and more people finding out which ones I liked and which ones I didn't want to be a part of. I was meeting new people faster than I ever had before and I began to forget that I was a new student at this school. Once I met some new friends I became very glad and was not so depressed anymore.

My grades picked themselves of the floor and I flew through my senior year of high school. Graduation sneaked right up behind me and before I knew it I was receiving my diploma and throwing my hat up to the sky. Moving away was the most difficult adjustment I had to make in my life. It was difficult because I had to give up all my friends I knew for years then start off fresh and try to make new ones with people I did not even know. It was very difficult to get used to and a huge challenge to meet new people. Moving away can be a colossal tragedy in a teenager's life until you meet new friends.
