Through out time, war has been a large event upon the human life. Way back in tine man use to fight with swords over land and other titles. But, today we use explosives, such like conventional weapons. This was started when we developed technology along with war. With the combination of sulfur, charcoal, and saltpeter we developed gunpowder. Soon after the invention of conventional weapons, man has developed biological weapons; then chemical weapons; and lastest being the newest nuclear weapons.

Chemical weapon use was used mostly during the First World War. What drives this weapon to full force is fear. Fear that it would be used against the innocent people of the world. The problem with a chemical weapon is that once released there is no way to control it. So what is exactly a Chemical Weapon? It is a weapon of mass destruction that contains anything that has chemical agents.

These Chemical agents contain elements that in some way could effect the nervous system. The Chemical weapon is the easiest weapon of mass destruction to create. (Landeau: 7) It is also the easiest out of the three to produce, and could physical kill or hurt someone for quite a time. This could mean many things such as, breathing in through the lungs, skin, eyes, nose, or even throat. They could be anything from a gas, to a liquid, and also a solid. Solid such as powders, and gases such as sprays.

They could be sent over by many obstacles. Such as artillery in explosive shells, dropped bombs, flybys from airplanes, and even scattered land mines. Anything could cause a chemical reaction once being triggered. (Landeau: 48) Some chemical weapons contain agents, called nerve gas or nerve agents. These could totally put a human being into shock, and even cause death. Sometimes it doesnt even have to be long exposure to the chemical, instead just being in a small area where a chemical agents has been released could cause the effect. These agents are sometimes colorless, odorless, and even tasteless.

With even physical contact to the skin could also be as fatal. Not every chemical agent could cause death quickly. But instead some agents blister upon the exposed individuals skin. Other gases could cause a mental block or confusion, and others can cause blindness. And some times make them so sick, that they would be unable to defend themselves. Even long exposures to these chemicals could eve cause a dreary death.

Such chemicals were used during the First World War. (Germany's Use of Chemical Weapons: [ 6 ]) Also other wars that saw chemical warfare was Vietnam War, and even Operation Desert Storm. Today all of the worlds military have some type of chemical weapon. That could be sent anywhere to cause harm around the world. In World War 1, chemical weapons were used to gain ground upon fellow adversaries. The Germans would use mustard gas, which left a devastating effect on the battlefield. The method of sending seemed to be a problem.

In order to use the weapon the military forces would have to be close together. Thus, contaminating the German army in the same process. (Death on the Wind: [ 4 ]) The German military then developed new ways of sending their lethal weapon to its target. By Developing V 1, V 2 rockets that they would launch from safe distances. The V 3 was under development, but never completed by the Germans, but instead by the Russians. The V 3 was a rocket that could be launch into outer space. And also was the first missile to be able to reach North America.

But the R- 7 (V 3) was intended to carry a nuclear isotope instead of creating a chemical reaction once on impact. But instead was used to launch the Russias space exploration. During the Vietnam War the use of Agent Orange. Agent Orange would be used to destroy wooded areas that were used to contain military bases. But Agent Orange also contained a knocking effect (Landeau: 88) that would be harmful for the human body. Today Chemical Warfare is still being used, by terrorist and anti-terrorist.

They could also be used for riot control, called tear gas. Which could be used to subdue a large crowd without the use of anymore-physical attack. This tactic made the number of unexpected killings go down. Tear gas can cause blinding to the eyes, a lot of coughing and even temporary station. The effects only last a short time, and or the gas could dissipate and leave. Chemical Warfare can cause many public outcries.

Even wide spread panic and fear. Certain programs and products were produced to protect those who are afraid of the chemical causes. Gas masks and injections of antidotes are used as those certain defenses. Large countries devoted a pack against the use of chemical weapons.

They would form certain programs that would outlaw the use of chemical explosives testing. Even radar has been updated to keep track and protect the innocent. But these countries still produce chemical weapons, but as a deterrent against other countries than anything. The Chemical agents could be anything. When the mixture of two chemicals into one could cause a violent reaction. But when those chemicals by it is a different story.

Even today there is no true way of outlawing chemical weapon use because it is so wide. By making it harder to obtain hazards chemicals is the only true deterrent we have against them. In todays warfare we would never have to use chemical warfare unless it would be a nuclear bomb. Terrorist are the only people that would have a use for chemical explosives. Once released the chemical reaction would be almost impossible to stop. But it is clear that weapons like this are a major threat to all that live.

As the methods of delivery increase in number, people who can obtain these chemicals and so does the threat increase. To keep every human safe, we would have to destroy all chemicals that we use. That wont be happening anytime soon because we are depended on the use of all chemicals, safe or not.
