The book I read was entitled, Animal Farm, by George Orwell. It was 136 pages and the copyright was in 1945. The story takes place on a farm like the title tells you. The date and time is unknown.

Mr. Jones is the protagonist in Animal Farm. Of course Napoleon is also the major villain, however much more indirectly. Orwell says that at one time Jones was actually a decent master to his animals.

In fact, he and his men had taken up the habit of drinking. Old Major reveals his feelings about Jones and his administration when he says, "Man is the only creature that consumes without producing. He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs, he is too weak to pull the plough, and he cannot run fast enough to catch rabbits. Yet he is lord of all the animals. He sets them to work, he gives back to them the bare minimum that will prevent them from starving and the rest he keeps for himself." So the animals successfully uproot Jones and the old government.

Little do they know, history will repeat itself with Napoleon and the pigs. The conflict is man v. man. The pigs came up with the idea to lead a rebellion against the cruel Mr.

Jones. The rebellion starts when Mr. Jones comes home drunk one night, and forgets to feed the animals. They break out of the barns and run to the house, where the food is stored.

When Mr. Jones recognizes this he takes out his shotgun, but it is to late for him, all the animals fall over him and drive him off the farm. The animals destroy all whips nose rings, reins, and all other instruments that have been used to suppress them. After some time Jones comes back with some other men from the village to recapture the farm. The animals fight brave, and they manage to defend the farm.

As you can see, Mr. Jones and the animals were in a constant battle for the farm. The climax occurs when Mr. Jones comes home drunk one night and forgets to feed the animals. The animals end up braking into the house and eating all the food. Then Mr.

Jones and his friends come into the house and try to hurt the animals. The animals retaliate by jumping on them and biting them. This is when the story and the animal rebellion begin. The books denouement was kind of logical in a way. The pigs became leaders of the farm and dress up and act like Mr.

Jones. The pigs also begin to hang around men and humans. You can infer that the other animals are unhappy. Also the pigs change the seven commandments of the farm down to one. This book was not written for entertainment purposes. The book tries to show what a modern day dictatorship is like.

If we want to understand the world we live in, we must try to understand the events of revolution. (What happens in the world) One way of doing so is to see how an imaginative writer deals with it. You can think of this as an important benefit of reading Animal Farm. If you produced a movie from this book I think you could use, either color or black and white. It would depend on what kind of image the producer wanted to make. If they used black and white, the producer would want to relate the time the book was written with the outline. If the producer used color, they would want to show more detail.
