Throughout your life there will be many situations that you encounter that have a major effect on the way that you live. Your life is based on choices, with an outcome strictly of what you make it to be. There are of course good choices and bad choices involved in the process of life. One of the most difficult choices that you have to make is what to do with your life after you leave high school, there are a million and one paths to follow and each one is different with pros and cons for you as an individual. You can go your whole child hood and teenage years deciding on the perfect choice for you.

Although, you will not no the right path to follow until you have an epiphany, and see your whole future exactly the way you want it in just a split second. Ever since I was a kid, I had always dreamed of being a Garbage man, seeing the blue and white trucks drive by that said B. F. I. in huge letters all over the side. My parents always told me that I really did not want to be a garbage man, that I should make something of myself, but I was a stubborn minded 8 year old who wanted to be a garbage man.

As my childhood progressed, there were many more careers that interested me, which I thought, would be the perfect thing for me. For example, I wanted to be a firefighter. Something about those loud sirens, horns and the big trucks mesmerized me. But then around the age of 10, another thing that I loved, Semi-trucks. I wanted to drive one of the big rigs, and make what I thought would be the big money.

I loved when our family took road trips, because I would always talk to all of the truckers on the CB radio. I loved it, and still to this day talk to them. But yet again, another career that my parents told me that I didnt want to have, that I should make something of myself, and become a somebody, and be respected by everyone. A few years had passed, and over those years I had changed my mind about what I wanted to do about 15 times, with things ranging from police officer, to lawyer, to a stockbroker, and an engineer. But none of those careers I could see myself doing for the rest of my life. On a Thursday when I came home from school one day on my senior year, the grass seemed to be a little greener that day, and birds chirped a little louder, and air smelt a little fresher, I had a very intellectual conversation with my parents about what I was going to do with myself after I got out of high school.

The conversation that I had been waiting to have with my parents was the longest hour of my whole entire life. It was like I could understand everything that they were saying to me, and I realized that they really did care for my future and me. It was coincidentally the same week that all of the college representatives were coming to speak to my school about what their campus could offer to me. I knew it was then, the moment that I realized I wanted to go to college.

My parents had told me all of the benefits that a college degree could offer me. They told me that with a college degree, my possibilities were endless, the starting salaries are more, you get more recognition from companies, higher quality jobs, and you get the satisfaction of knowing you succeeded. After those conversations, I had done a lot of research on which college would be right for me, and I finally narrowed it down to two of them. During this time, I also researched different career opportunities, and saw how successful people who were in those positions were. I portrayed my future off of what a neighbor of mine has. I saw myself living the life, driving a brand new silver corvette convertible, and having a nice boat, a huge house on a lake.

I also saw visions of me working for General Motors as an Electrical Engineer. I also saw myself one day about 30 years from now, with my beautiful wife. I could almost smell the scent of perfume that she is wearing, and hear the voice as she talked to me, telling me how much she loved me and that she was glad that I was successful on my goal in life. Seeing the life of luxury that my neighbor lives, and how much fun he has doing what he does, has helped motivate me to go to college so I can work up to what he has. That is a big motivation factor for me, seeing what I could have, and then wanting to have it myself.

Another motivational factor is the way your parents portray the success of your future. My parents have always strived for the importance of my education, and persisted that I went to college. The motivation that I see in that is that I cannot wait to see the day that I make my parents extremely proud of me, even more than they already are, and to show them that I can succeed. My parents implementing all of the influence on me is the reason that I am here today, to get a higher education and to make the most of my life.
