Two weeks ago Palestine and Israel started to war for their conviction. Two countries fighting for a piece of land that what it is. However, in the beginning of the 20 century the world was fighting for the human rights. A lot of men died during this war, soldiers who were before everything human being with feelings, who died for their aim and believes. Some of them, to forget their misery decided to write poems such as Alfred Joyce Kilmer and Rupert Brooke. Alfred Joyce Kilmer was born on December 1886 in New Brunswick.

He died in 1918, killed by a bullet. Kilmer was part of the Regiments intelligence staff. He was also awarded of the French croix de guerre for bravery. In 1915, immediately after the death of his friend, Rupert Brooke, he wrote a compilation of poems named in memory of Rupert Brooke. Brooke was born in 1887, he was a good student and athlete with a handsome look. Brooke contracted a blood-poisoning from a neglected injury and died in April in the Aegean.

H e attempted his post-mortem glory because of Kilmer's poem golden warrior. Most of the time, when men are fighting for their country; they are fighting in a foreign land. Soldiers are usually dying far from their home and families. Far from their beloved country, in the middle of nowhere, they are dying. Their last minute of life, is generally in the middle of bullets flying from a place to another.

I think, Brooke died in those conditions, and suffered a lot during his death because he realized every steps of his dying procedure. Kilmer understood that, by reporting those feelings into poetic words such as: In alien earth, across a troubled sea, The soldiers recruited by the army to fight are usually young and full of dignity. They are, 15 to 35 years old and their life just began. Brooke was only 28 years old when he died. If he wasnt dead during the 1 st world -war Rupert would have, probably, been a famous poet, and a family man with a wife and several children. But the talented man died to soon to see his future grow.

Alfred Joyce Kilmer knew it and explained it by writing: His body lies that was so fair and young. I thing that during a fight soldiers sing to keep their spirit alive and when the war is finish they also sing their freedom. Rupert Brooke was probably an expressive man. He wanted to dance, sing, write and scream his joy, his pain and his believes like all human being.

Unfortunately, Brooke died before the end of the massacres. Kilmer wrote the following lyrics without knowing that he was going to die three years after his dear friend, Rupert. His mouth is stopped, with half his sung unsung; When a soldier goes to fight in another country its usually to save the glory of his home land and the conviction of their nation. They leave, holding bravely and proudly a weapon, who, hopefully, can save the life of a population and sometimes more. Brooke and Kilmer were two courageous soldiers who, like the 1. 7 million other men who dead during the first and second world-war, lost their dignity and power to save man by loosing the capacity of their own body. Kilmer communicate this fact by writing: His arm is still, that struck to make men free.

Two weeks ago, one of the greatest prime minister of Canada died. All Canada was sad and felt sorry for mister Pierre Eliot Trudeau and his family. I think that M. Trudeau wouldnt like to see all Canada feeling sorry for him and his family because he was a human being just like us. He only did his job of prime minister.

Its like all the soldiers, dead in all those painful and useless war, they only did what they were asking to do. Kilmer tried to explain to us that we dont need to cry or to fell sorry for the soldier by saying: But no cloud of lamentation be Donovan, Corcoran, Meagher, Duffy, Kilmer and Brooke are all soldiers with a poetic soul. They all used their aim to bravely express their thoughts, their misery and their pain. They all express their aim by writing some expressive poem. They where also warriors, proud to save their country, family, and patriot. All of them were fighting to express their expression rights and to keep their dignity.

Unfortunately they all died without knowing if they were useful or not if what they said and what they wrote help to bring the peace back just like it was before 1914. However, Lt. Kilmer wrote the following sentence in is poem the golden warrior to explain how was considered the work of Brooke: Where, on a warriors grave, a lyre is hung. We keep the echoes of his golden tongue, In the middle age when soldiers use to leave their village to fight with other tribes they were considered like heroes. Just like the Americans, during the 1 st world war, who were leaving their family and their culture without knowing if they will be coming back or not.

Kilmer didnt knew if I will be coming back to the New Jersey when he wrote this poem, in memory of his friend, but he was sure wasnt coming back. Meanwhile, in memory of the brave soldier Rupert Brooke, Alfred Joyce said: We keep the vision the vision of his Chilvary. Finally, wars will never finish. Kilmer tried to keep the memory of his friend alive and also the memory of every soldiers who died during the combat. I hope people will finally find a compromise.

I hope people will find another way to express themselves than fighting. All those soldiers will always stay heroes in our memory, its for this exact reason that men like Kilmer wrote this kind of poem.
