Its strange to think that I am part of this great countrys future. Therefore, I should do my best at everything I attempt. Being a well-rounded and informed American is very important. You must show your Patriotism by performing your duties as a citizen, understanding our government, and becoming well read. On September 11, 2001 patriotic Americans came together like never before. People all across our great nation presented themselves as magnificent examples of true Americans.
These Americans instantly became role models and heroes to everyone. Children want to grow up to be just like them, and this is what we need - Dedicated Americans to run this country now and in the years to come. A friend in the community where I live responded to this patriotism of America by saying, This is not the new America, this is the old America, the one that we once knew coming back to life. I admire and honor those Americans, past and present, that have fought and continue to fight to protect the freedom each and everyone of us enjoys in our great nation... Doing your duty as a citizen is probably the most important job one has as an American. Good citizens are surprisingly abundant.
This knowledge was brought home to me on that ill-fated September 11, 2001 when we Americans were attacked by terrorists on our own soil. Americans, young and old, rich and poor, male and female have come together in one single united bond to overcome shock, denial, and grief when the World Trade Center and the Pentagon were attacked. Americans have always displayed a true sense of patriotism and goodness when the need has arisen. But there is more to being a good American.
As citizens we have many duties. We need to work to support our families, to serve on juries when called upon to do so, to make sure our children are safe and well taken care of. We also need to reach out and comfort those who need comforting and help those who need help. We must continue to stick together as patriotic American citizens and to continually fight to preserve our freedoms that our forefathers worked so hard to obtain.
These are just some of the qualities our nation is be made up of. Our men and women who serve in the military are the protectors, so to speak, of our hard earned freedoms. Americans need to understand the workings of our government. This is not an easy thing to do. You have to study and be well read and well informed about the goings on in our great nation to even begin to understand it. This is because our government is one made up of many rules, procedures, and chains of command.
There are three main branches of the United States Government. They are the Legislative Branch, the Executive Branch, and the Judicial Branch. In brief, The Legislative Branch makes, repeals, and amends federal laws. The Executive Branch enforces federal laws, conducts the administration of the national government, and regulates government agencies. The Judicial Branch tries, in federal courts, cases that involve the constitution and federal laws. Every decision and new law must go through procedures in order to be put into place.
Being well read, well informed and up to date with whats happening in the nation enables you to react and respond appropriately to all that happens. Situations arise and procedures are necessary in every case. Our government has many facets to it and understanding them to the best of our ability will help us to understand actions taken to solve any dilemma or crisis. A wonderful example has been set for the youth of America.
We have been shown how necessary and important it is to pull together in a time of need. Being part of this great county and its future is a privilege. I am proud to be an American and I will take care to preserve the freedoms I have been given. I pledge to be well read and well informed to the best of my ability.
I will continue to show my allegiance by respecting all laws and regulations in order to help this country operate at its highest potential. I will stand proudly united with my countrymen. This great nation really stands for us. We are indivisible, and we cannot be broken, for together we will stand with liberty and justice for all.
