I decided to write about my first big trip and the reason for picking it was I was sitting there trying to think of something to write about and could not think of anything. All of a sudden it came to me. The only thing in which I could remember a lot about is my first time to Hawaii. I am going to talk about how I felt and what everything looked like when I first saw the island also what it was like to fly for the first time in my life. The first time going to Hawaii was also the first time in which I have flown. I remember going into the airport and just looking at the humongous jet airplanes.
I remember starring at one and thinking it was so big. It was bigger than most of the other planes and was gray with a red stripe down the side. I sat there starring at it for a couple of minutes and my mom came over and told me that that was the plane we were going to be on and she told me it was called a jumbo jet. I sat there a minute longer in disbelief that a plane that big would actually make it off the ground. Once we got onto the plane and sat down, I started to look around at everything around me. I noticed the circular white air vents right above my head with little lights next to the vent.
It was so neat because the controls were right on my armrest. Also on the armrest was a place to plug in head phones in order to listen to music. I noticed that there was a big screen up on the wall that separated first class passengers from coach passengers. That is the screen to watch movies on my mom said. I could hardly believe that I could watch a movie while traveling since I was used to driving everywhere with no television in the car on vacation so I found that to be really cool.
After everyone got settled into there seats, the stewardess came over the intercom and explained all of the safety procedures such as: the emergency exits, what to do incase of a crash on land and what to do incase of a crash in the water. They also showed everyone how to put the seat belts on correctly. After the stewardess was done explaining all the safety procedures we began our taxi out to the runway. As the plane approached the runway I started to get really excited. I remember as the airplane started to get more speed, my stomach had this odd feeling from the excitement of actually going up in the air for the first time. My mom told me that I had the biggest smile in the world and I felt like I did.
It was so neat staring at the ground just watching everything get smaller and smaller. By the time the plane had reached cruising altitude, everything under the plane looked like a little micro machine town. I just stared out the window for a good amount of the trip just looking at everything below the plane. About half way through the trip the stewardess came around and served everyone food and drinks. I remember the food because it almost tasted like a mix between hospital food and school food. The food was served on a tray and the tray sat on a fold down table that folded down from the seat in front of me.
The table was barely big enough to fit the tray in which the food was served on. It was nice getting the food because that meant the flight was about half way over. Even though I enjoyed flying I was really looking forward to arriving in Hawaii for the first time and seeing what it was like and if it resembled anything like the movies or the pictures I have seen. After eating they showed a movie it was Kindergarten Cop.
I found that movie to be really good but I could not concentrate much on the movie since I knew once the movie was over we would be there. Once the movie ended the pilot came on over the intercom and announced that in about thirty minutes we would be landing. All of a sudden that feeling came back to me the same one as when we first took off. I could hardly wait; I stared out the window until I saw land. Right after I saw the land the plane started to come down and everything started getting bigger and bigger. As soon as I saw the runway I heard this weird nose, I got a little scared and asked my mom what it was she kind of laughed and told me it was just the landing gear coming down.
As soon as the plane touched down I heard the tires screech. All I could think of was we are finally in Hawaii, but from the time the plane touched down and I got off the plane felt like forever. As soon as the plane stopped almost everyone on the plane jumped up and was rushing to get off. It was total chaos and everyone was pushing and shoving to get off the plane and I was in the middle of it with my parents. We finally got off and got are luggage and stepped out of the airport and took a deep breath.
It was the freshest air I think I have ever experienced before. The view was the most beautiful sight I had ever seen before in my life it was better than any picture or movie I had ever seen before. I hope in this paper I have explained in full detail my first big trip. Also how I felt and what I saw and experienced on my way to Hawaii for the first time. This was probably the most memorable time in my life.
This is something that I hope I can remember for the rest of my life and maybe experience it again sometime. I would highly recommend for any one I know to go if they ever get the chance. Hawaii is not somewhere that can be explained well enough because it is so unbelievable.
