What specific actions of the Soviet Union had when expressing expansionism and threats to stability? Write in defense of the Soviet Union. The Cold War dominated world politics or needed to dominate world attention of what it was about and such a large event it was being a global phenomenon which was difficult for reaching agreements. In fact, interpretations as to the origins of the Cold War are dominated by three schools of thought.

Traditionalist, Revisionist and Post-revisionist. While the Traditionalist thought the expansionist, Revisionist suggested that these policies were essentially defensive. In the cause of this essay, all sides would be examined to the establishment of validity of this statement. Even before and after World War 2, there were rapid, complex and simultaneous and what was seen as weakness by some was also seen as strength by the other.

The Traditionalist viewed out that the Soviet Union to be expansionist. They believed that the Soviets led by Stalin wanted to have more territory by spreading communism throughout Europe and taking over land. The Soviets had a rise in economy and at that time the U. S. had the Great Depression. This made the Soviet Union a little more powerful than the United States for a little while so they can take territories.

There were secret agreements with Hitler and the Soviet Union. America became worried as to how close Hitler and Stalin was. All these agreements were more or less about spreading communism throughout the European states. Stalin was also aware of America knowing everything what is going on in Europe. It was so because America had its businesses there when Europe was to call out for economic aid, so trade and the economies would be built up. Stalin sent letters to American workers telling them to revolt against the capitalist society.

The Soviets started to form communism in the Caribbean which there was a continuous fear of these Soviets in the tropical part of the world. At the Yalta Conference there was also a demand for more territory from European land since it was devastated after World War 2 by the Soviets. With this, the Soviets got carried away, they wanted everything. They had a power vacuum which throughout Europe and other areas had Communist parties. It was believed that these Communist parties held allegiance to the Soviet Union. Stalin's socialism in one country had been an admission that the Communist revolution had limited to the Soviet Union.

Expansion in Eastern Europe was much less a historical necessity than it was an expression of the possibilities created by the advance of the Red Army. Power was an important condition for the policy pursued even though the Soviet Unions power was considerably less and geographically more limited than of the United States. The Revisionist viewed out that there was a defense to this expansionism by the Soviet Union. They believed the S. U. was seeing at the Yalta Conference that there was a hesitation by the West to offer reparation of $ 10 billion to them.

They also had, that Stalin had suspected the United States and British in talks with Germany in Italy as an attempt to have a separate peace agreement with Hitler. He felt that they were going to try to turn against the Soviet Union. Out of this, Stalin wanted to take action in means of expanding his territory. He eventually took control of Eastern Europe there was to have elections there. The U. S.

had dropped the atom bombs at the end of World War 2, in which made a response that Stalin felt the need to increase its control in Romania and Bulgaria and refused to call elections in Eastern Europe. Years later, after Roosevelt died and Truman took over, the Truman Doctrine and Marshall Plan was put into act for Europe. These leaded Stalin to insilverment in being suspicious of the Americans from the Soviet Union. This was for helping economy and Stalin did not like it one bit, but he wanted the people on his side. The Post-revisionist had a more objective view of this communism spread by Communist groups formed from the Soviet Union.

With this they were thought to be expansionist by the Americans, in taking over land in Europe and spreading communism as far as China. All this expansion was for the cause of good though in which they believed that it had to do with something as a response to actions of America and Britain in European areas of the Soviet Union. The Cold War had become a role known to the world only because that of expansionism by the Soviet Union. Though the three views showing the value of the Soviet Union. It also shows the way people thinking then at that time in terms of the Cold War after World War 2.
