They were under the impression that I was driving my parents car and I refuse to take the blame for your mistakes and be unable to obtain my license until I am in my twenties. After over fifteen years of friendship, my own cousin has betrayed me, you could have easily said that you dont know who was driving the car because you were not there, I explained. This was never expected from my long time friend and cousin which I have known and been close to for over fifteen years. A week earlier, while my uncle had gone on holiday to visit family in America, a few of us had thought about taking the car out for a short drive. After long thought and contemplating the consequences of our actions, we foolishly decided to take the car for a short drive just around the area.
We decided that the chance of being caught was slim enough to risk the consequences of such actions. At first, we were all afraid of the consequences and this caused us to stay local and not venture out of the area which we thought would keep us undetected. After a number of small cruises around the area, greed began to overcome us. In search of a larger adrenaline rush and no longer in fear of being caught, we decided to venture out of our area and drive further and further away each time. This feeling that we could no longer be caught caused us to take further chances, one of which I shall never forget. A couple nights earlier, we were possessed with a feeling of power.
Foolishly believing that we could no longer get caught, we made the ultimate mistake on our last journey. As we were driving at approximately four in the morning, we couldnt help but notice that the streets were deserted. As we approached a large intersection, we stopped at the lights and waited patiently at first for them to change colour. After a short period of time, with no cars in sight, we decided to run the lights and continue our journey without further delay, this decision proved costly. As we entered the intersection and began to accelerate, it happened, we heard the distinct siren of a police vehicle behind us, signalling us to pull over immediately. After a few moments of shock, I made one of the worst decisions of my life, I turned into the next side street and accelerated away.
After a dangerous little cruise in the side streets, we had lost the police and were heading home, not realising the painfully obvious fact that they had got the license plate number of the vehicle. I knew my luck had run out and that I would soon be facing the police. After a few days, they had found out that it was me, now it was time for me to face the consequences of my actions, time to await my fate.
